Update: SP Page Builder 3.2.9 comes with Open Street Map addon

Just about a couple weeks back, we brought some important updates to SP Page Builder. Last two releases v3.2.7 & v3.2.8 got tremendous appreciation from the user community. At the same time we’ve got some feature requests as well, coincidentally our R&D team was working on those features. So, this update (v3.2.9) is a mixed recipe from our R&D team and the user community. Let’s see what this update brings to you.

First thing first, SP Page Builder v3.2.9 at a glance

 • New: Open Street Map addon (Pro)
 • Fix: Video addon Vimeo video issue

Now that you know the changelog, let's take a brief look at the new Open Street Map addon that we’ve introduced today.

Open Street Map addon

Recently we’ve been flooded with the request of adding OpenStreetMap support to SP Page Builder. We’ve listened to those requests and presenting a dedicated addon for that purpose. With this addon you will have full control over your map. You can customize it all the ways you can imagine. Let's have a look at the features coming with Open Steet Map addon.

 • The addon offers 20 styles for your map
 • You can use images as custom markers
 • You can add multiple locations on the map
 • You can set the default map zoom level
 • You can set the zooming on mouse scroll
 • You can show the zooming +/- icon
 • You can enable/disable the copyright text

The 20 map styles include: Wikimedia, Lite, Light All, Black, Hybrid, Terrain, Dark All, Delorme, Hike Bike, Hydda, Voyager, National Geographic, NASA Earth at Night, Open Street Default, Open Street Black/White, Open Street Hot, Ocean Base, World Street, Open Topo, and World Gray Canvas.

Our new addon is based on OpenStreetMap script. World maps are built by volunteers and released with an open-content license. You can use addon without credit card data or API (compare to Google Maps). Maps can be used on website for any purpose, including commercial & government use.
Enjoy new addon :)

What about GDPR-compliant implementation?
To my knowledge and current status of the law, you have to ask the user for consent BEFORE the map is displayed, and BEFORE any data is submitted/stored on a remote server.
The map addons alone are not usable at the moment. For instance, inside a pagebuilder page I would have to use the module-addon plus this two-click iframe solution by CoolCatCreations:

As you noticed even Joomla core is not fully GDPR ready, we all wait for J3.9. And for some project we have to use extra extensions for GDPR.
But the main question is "Is OpenStreet touch your privacy area, and if yes, how deep ?"
I think that compare to Google, not so much. Just read: https://apnews.com/828aefab64d4411bac257a07c1af0ecb
Beside anytime you can use just screenshot from map, and put map as static image. It's not so bad idea, fast & GDPR friendly.

I don't think that J!3.9 will help in this particular case. I mean, blocking any map addon functionality until the user clicks a button. I guess, you would have to implement such a feature anyway.

Lite = limited edition, that's why it's free.
As we marked in blog post, new maps addon is for PRO version only.

SPPB Pro one year subscription cost = 4 pizzas + dranken. So it's fully reasonable price.

Openstreet Map is a great addon, very usefull.

Would it be possible to add in a future update an option to calculate a route to one of the locations.

Thank's

What is the result of your thinking?

Will it be possible to calculate a route to the location? Will there be an update?
