I have a question.
If I have two columns and different elements in them, e.g. once an image and once a text. Can I then set the "boxes" to the same height with SPPB 3.8.9 or is that only possible with CSS?

Columns have the same height by default (if vertical alignment OFF in section settings). You should set up elements to make them 100% height of the columns. And yes, it can be done only via css
