Changing H2 page titles to H1

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Hello,

The page titles (when set to display in the menu item settings), default to H2 titles. How can I go about changing them to H1? At the moment, it appears that the first title on the page is H2 and most pages are missing an H1 title, which is not great for SEO. Could you advise?

Thanks!
Assima

Is this on purpose and up-to-date? What is the reason and impact for SEO and correct hierarchy for the rest of the page structure?

Search engines are cleverer now. Just use header tags as a design element. Search engines understand that the title is at the top of a page regardless of the header tag. Look up the SEO Myths at Hubspot. They published a PDF about that.

Hi Assima,

If your pages were created with our SP Page Builder, then you can set "Enable Page Title" parameter in your menu item's "Helix Page Title" tab (see my screenshot attached below) to "No", then go to the page -> "Row Settings" (little gear icon, see second screenshot) of the first row of this page -> parameter "Heading" (see third screenshot) -> select H1.

Regards,

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for the response - I have already tried this. Is there another way to change H2 tags to H1?

Thanks,
Assima

Good point and question in general!

All Helix3 powered templates wrap their Logo inside an H1-tag.
Is this on purpose and up-to-date? What is the reason and impact for SEO and correct hierarchy for the rest of the page structure?

Unfortunately, the heading-tag is hardcoded in .../YourTemplate/features/title.php
@JoomShaper Suggestion: This should be a selectable parameter in the MenuItem!
Among other options for the background image...

(PS: Going to open an issue on GitHub soon)

How can that safely be done overriding the /features/title.php ?

@Vaggelis
Unfortunately there is no save override for the "features" folder contents.
To my knowledge, you can copy the title.php and create your own variant. The drawback is that you can't select it in the UI, because it has to be listed in the template's XML file, too. So you would have to modify 1 original file anyway.

PS: Funnily the much more deeper rendering layouts in "frontend" folder can be overridden. Which is slightly confusing, because not many people would use it, or even know about it.
