Coming Soon Mode

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Hi. How can I (administrator) view my site while it is in Coming Soon Mode (YES)? I didn't find a plugin where to set GET parameter.

Hi Gary,

Apology, I got it wrong: to get to the back end of a website running in the "Coming Soon" mode, a super administrator just needs to point his browser to /administrator/ sub-folder, this is all it takes. Please give it a go.

Regards,

Alex

Hi there,

Turning "Coming Soon" mode to Yes locks your site up, so you won't be able to see it, even as a Joomla super administrator.

So then this wasn't thought out very well. The coming soon renders itself useless if the admin can't get past it. What should have been here is a login for admin and code to allow the admin to bypass like the Joomla base. You are just prettying up something Joomla did with a timer, which is all well and good, but, useless now.

Yeah I agree, there should be a way to bypass the Coming Soon page through the use of a keyword or something, like N3t "Coming Soon" plugin so that people can bypass the holding page whilst under development.

Is this a feature which could be added?

Yes, the whole idea of "coming soon" is that the site is still being worked on. Please fix this so that the "coming soon" page is only visible when NOT logged into backend. If you had permissions available for us for that one feature, we could set it as needed. Thanks.

Alex, this is not a resolution to the problem. Please mark it as "unresolved" so that we can get some attention on this. Thanks.

All we need is a parameter we can set in the template admin which acts as a password which can be added to the site URL, this will set a cookie which allows access to the site, otherwise the holding page is displayed.

So go to http://www.mysite.com and you'll get the holding page but go to http://www.mysite.com?mypassword=1 and you can browse the site.

I agree. Issue is still not resolved.
Coming soon page should behave like joomla offline page, that is: possible to access website frontend.

Any progress or advise on this issue?

I agree with the rest.
The coming soon mode is pointless

Terrible that this hasn't been fixed, rendering this useless.
