× Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error when I click on Global Configuration from the System menu tab.

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
I installed the latest Joomla version, 3.9.1 on my hosting server via the Softaculous Apps installer with the Joomshaper template Rhino then I upgraded my Joomshaper package to the template package personal license from my personal SP PageBuilder license package. After reading that the quickstart package has Joomla 3.9 version and full demo template and SP page Builder built in, I first uninstalled the Softaculous Joomla App. I uploaded the new Joomshaper template package zip folder and extracted it on my server to public_html installed Joomla, SP Page Builder works fine, the full demo template works fine but now in the admin backend on the "SYSTEM" menu when I click on Global Configuration I get this message × Error Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error. and no page with all the Global config details on. I have also logged into phpMyAdmin and read all the forum problems and ran a few SQL queries and found zero problems in SP page Builder and User and a few others mentioned in the forums to check. I have also checked the permissions for the folders and the config file 755 are set for folders and 644 for files, I have also checked the tmp and log paths all look OK. I have disabled SP PageBuilder Pro and any new extensions I had installed and checked but still, the same error × Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error when I click on Global Configuration from the System menu tab.

Hi,
Thanks for your query. Your query resembles that this issue isn't related to pagebuilder or helix. What i can suggest is to upload your site to a different server ( you can use your localhost ) and check if that issue yet exists.
Make sure you are using latest joomla along with all the latest components. Also i suggest to use php version 7.2
Please let me know your test result.

-Best Regards

Hi Sifat, I could not put my finger on the problem.
I tried all kinds, disabling extensions uninstalling language packages that I had installed but still no joy and because it was a fresh upload of the RHINO Quick Start package on my server I decided to delete all in my public_html and deleted the old database and uploaded a fresh RHINO Quick Start Package and everything works great now Global Config window on Joomla admin side shows all details again.

This would not have been a good idea to delete everything and start fresh if I had a website and database up and running for a few years but since this was new I was OK to do this as a one-off.

I need to get in the flow of backing up in the future and checking the Joomla back end to see if things work after installing extensions and adjusting. :o

Thanks for your help, speak soon :D

Mark.

Hi,
As i guessed may be your joomla was corrupted. Btw what i can suggest you to please take a backup before doing any kind of update. You can use akeeba backup for that http://prntscr.com/m5si9s
It's easy to use and easy to take a backup.
