You have to do something for that because may be you have already a folder on module folder.

So, please clear all cache from admin -> maintenance -> clear cache. Check there is no sp smart slider module on extension manager -> manage tab. Finally check on your root folder -> modules section. After that install sp smart slider. Hope it will work.

I followed your instructions, but it still shows me the same error as before :/

Can you please make sure that all folders are writtable? See system information.
