Frontend-Editing don't work on localhost

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
Hi there,

on my fresh and clean installation:

- Helix Template j3_v2.4
- SP Pagebuildedr pro v3.1
- Joomla 3.8.4

it won't work direct to edit pages on the fronend modus. If i click the function to do so - the function don't realize the port (8888) and instead pointing to: http://localhost:8888/--project--/index.php/1-start/edit?lang=de it is pointing to: http://localhost/--project--/index.php/de/1-start/edit

You see that the port is missing - ok i can insert it manualy - but this is frusttrating.
I checked that my live path is set to be http://localhost:8888/--project--

I recognized that it is only on the frontend himself. Where the buttons appears "edit page".

Any idea to fix that''?
Best and thanks Ralf

Lol that is not a answer like expected. I need to work LOCAL to setup everything. If i load it up to a live server i did not have any Port Numbers! - So please check it with a local enviroment ;)

Solution for People that work on a Mac and using Mamp as a local enviroment:

Just change the mamp setting to use the Ports:

Apache: 80
SSL: 43
MySql: 3306

That will give you the possiblity to use the URL http://localhost/yourproject
instead http://localhost:8888/yourproject

But @Joomshaper-Team: It will be nice if you can fix this - it only happens if you click on the frontend linke (edit page). If you click on the backend link - to edit it in the front-end it works!

Hi, Thanks for your elaboration. We will think about it in future. Thanks

@Joomshaper

Sorry, I can't believe it.
Apparently I can't use, nor recommend SP PageBuilder anymore. Frankly speaking, it seem to get worse on every major release.

This localhost error and restriction for MAMP standard port is not acceptable!
As mentioned earlier, it works while switching from backend -> frontend edit!
It does not work on direct frontend edit?!?
Not to mention, the current SAVE in frontend produces a "doubled" URL?!? It combines the edited URL + return to backend URL. Result is a 404 error :o

As far as I know, you have even Macs in your office.
I really have my doubts about quality assurance and product testing.
You seem to have a pretty large team, would you mind to assign at least 1 staff member for testing?

Please, fix it as soon as possible. :(

Hi there, I hope the new version will fix your problem.

No. Version 3.2.1 does not work for me:

- Frontend edit SAVE button leads to 404 error, the return URL is:
localhost:8888/joomla/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=pages&lang=en
Obviously the /administrator/ part is missing?!

- Frontend edit CLOSE button leads to 404 error, the return URL is:
localhost/helix3/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=page&id=65&Itemid=0&lang=en
Obviously the :8888 port number is missing?!

As far as I remember there were no such issues in the early v3 versions.
Any ideas?

Hi, Can you share a screencast video? It would be easy to understand for developers. Thanks

Hi, Can you share a screencast video? It would be easy to understand for developers.

Actually it is quite easy to test and understand.
- Use MAMP / OSX
- Simply try Frontend Edit with SAVE and CLOSE/EXIT button
- From Backend pages manager, try the usual edit-in-frontend buttons. Test SAVE and CLOSE, too.
- SEF URLs on and off is also a difference! OFF produces a doubled URL. The page URL is combined with the backend URL. Example:
localhost:8888/ptz/component/sppagebuilder/5-our-team-demo/index.php?option=com_sppagebuilder&view=pages

I am not sure I get the time for a screencast, but I am going to test another installation. Just to make sure it is not a problem with this specific site.

UPDATE:
I have tested a total different installation. Same issues and problems!

Hi Toufiq,

I love PB 3.2.1 - awesome, but pepper street has a point, though he could have spent 5-10 minutes making a screen recording show you guys what to fix.

Instead, I have done that, so you can fix this bug - please let me know how long you think this fix might take and when a new update of PB might be available with this fix in it, as it is necessary to make the frontend editor work properly for localhost development purposes.

Here is a link to the screencast that takes you through the problem. Any chance of a coupon discount of some type for my efforts :)

I had asked the same question here and never got an answer. Another thing that happens on my end is when you save, SP Page builder converts all '&' to the html code & amp ; which makes the page only show the page builder but not any other module positions for the template I use. Let's hope they'll fix it in the next 'BIG' version coming this month.
