how works PRODUCTION mode + SPPB cache ?

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Hi,

I have 2 questions regarding PRODUCTION mode on SP page builder :

1) how does it work globally ?

2) when I click on PURGE CACHED CSS inside SPPB settings, where are located these css files?

Because I found problem with JCH optimize cache plugin when PRODUCTION mode is enabled.
And I would like to do more investigations.

Thanks
L.

Hi,
Some useful information you can find in SPPB Documentation > Caching System.
---
There was also inside blog post about SPPB 3.6.2 update.

Ok thanks.

If I use production mode, is it mandatory to use / enable Joomla Cache?

@Paul : I have read the documentation and I did some tests.

With production mode DISABLED :

- I update my website from front-end (ex : I change background color of title block)
- I open a new tab and I load the relevant page
- I see my modifications

With production mode ENABLED :
- I update my website from front-end (ex : I change background color of title block)
- I open a new tab and I load the relevant page
- I don't see my modifications even If I do a F5
- so then I delete the css file inside /www/media/com_sppagebuilder/css
- I go back on the the relevant page and I do a F5
- I don't see the modifications
- so then I go on SPPGB settings and I click on PURGE CSS button
- I go back on the the relevant page and I see immediately the modifications

So the production mode is not only css files inside /www/media/com_sppagebuilder/css directory no?

That's why:
1) You have to use Purge CSS button, not delete files alone
2) Enable Production Mode after the whole website will be done

1) ok but why? some other actions are performed when the button is clicked ?

2) ok but the site content (text, photos) evolves ... so as I'm using JCH + production mode, the cache has to be cleared every time a user do an update. If no, he will not be able to see the modifications. so how can I do automatically a PURGE CSS ?

I have to ask developer for more details OK

Laurent

ok many thanks ;)

for info :

- the last solution is to disable production mode and use only JCH optimize
- but in case we want to use JCH + production mode, we have to find a way to do automatically the purge css actions done whe the button is clicked

OK understood, but as I said :

- If I remove manually the files located in yoursite/media/com_sppagebuilder/css , then, when I go back on my website front-end and If I do F5 only , I don't see the update...I need to do CTRL+F5 to see them.

but

- If I go on SPPB settings and If I click on PURGE CSS button, then, when I go back on my website front-end and If I do F5 only , I see the update...

So why I get this behavior?
I can show with a video if you need?

Hi,
First thing is that why you do it manually? You don't need to do that manually, so we added PURGE CSS button.

To understand F5 and CTRL+F5 issue, you have to understand how the browser works. Browser cache files using hash number.
For manually delete files hash number not deleted from browser, so pressing F5 the browser show content from the browser cache. When press CTRL+F5 the browser hard reload and fetch contents again by checking hash number. If hash number not matched re-fetch contents for you so you get new content or updated content.

When you click PURGE CSS button that hash is deleted and press F5 so new content is fetched for you.

Hope you understood.

Thanks,
Mamun

I did it because I want to purge CSS cache every time a SAVE task is performed from website front-end.
This is possible thanks to this plugin : https://www.regularlabs.com/extensions/cachecleaner/features
Cache cleaner can empty Custom Folders, so If I use this plugin, this path yoursite/media/com_sppagebuilder/css will be empty every time a user save his modifications.
So before bying this plugin, I did it manually just to test...and does not work.

yes I undertsand perfectly.
So how can I do SPPB purge css cleaning automatically with Cache cleaner?

Ask developer of Regular Labs to add support SP Page Builder, this is the only way I see now.
Then using Cache Cleaner "button" you will be able to clear all cache, both Joomla and SPPB.

this is already the case.
Cache Cleaner is able to delete all cache : joomla + custom folder.
the problem is to clear the hash as @Al Mamun said.

I can ask developer of Regular Labs but maybe he will need the query done by SPPB button to delete hash?

Yes, first please ask Peter van Westen from Regular Labs - for advice if he can/want add a new feature to his extension, then we can cooperate with him if necessary.

Hi Laurent,

Tell Regular Labs to delete yoursite/media/com_sppagebuilder/css folder that will work fine.

Thanks,
Mamun

I did it manually but does not work....it's not sufficient as you said.

you said "When you click PURGE CSS button that hash is deleted" so delete yoursite/media/com_sppagebuilder/css is not sufficient no ?

the PURGE CSS do 2 things no?

1) delete files inside yoursite/media/com_sppagebuilder/css folder
2) delete hash => but how?

Yes I can but I need to know what should I say to him exactly ?
that's why I was asking : what is the query done by SPPB button to delete hash ?
