Irritating issue with Page Builder

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Something I find very irritating is that I always build my clients sites on a development website or in a sub folder for the client. The fact that I have to use absolute URLs is a real game changer if I want to use this for more than a few pages since I then have to visit every single page that has links and change them once the site goes live. Why is it that relative URLs work in everything else inside Joomla but you chose to take the easy way out?

What is there to understand that a picture is going to help with? DONT USE ABSOLUTE LINKS, what is so hard about this? It really is just common logic for anything but a static website!

You should just try the relative URLs - it works great.
The problem is only in the wrong description of the link field. :D

Where you add links it says absolute URL, this means that I have to go back into each item after I have tested and the client signs off on the project and change all the links to the absolute URL when the site goes live. What I need is the ability to create relative URLs instead.

Have you found a solution for this?

Yea the solution was to use Quix instead.

Thanks for that Pavel, I would say that is a really bad description then and should be corrected ASAP. Knowing this I will give PageBuilder a second look.

Very simple.

Hi Patel,

That is what I have been doing but is not relative to the ID of the page. If for whatever reason the name of the menu changes, the all pages that are linking there will have broken links.

Am I missing the obvious here? See image:

This is not an issue of SP PB. This is an issue of your understanding of working with links in joomla and understanding what a relative link is.
A relative link is a link without http (s) and a domain name at the beginning. In all other respects, this is an ordinary link. If you change it, then of course it will change. For the formation of a link in the menu item the alias answers. You can keep the link if you do not change the alias when changing the name.

If your relative link is failing it might be you did not enter it right. How are you entering your relative link that breaks?

Thanks for your answers and your time.

See how JCE is doing it, it links to articles IDs, and if any name changes, the links are preserved.

Why doesn't Joomshaper develops it like they did when pulling a joomla module? What they have done here is great (and expected), where the module is tied to the ID, not to the name of the module.

Thanks again.

Yes, what you are talking about is certainly a good idea for future functions. But here we discussed the use of relative links in SP PB in general, as an opportunity. Kevin thought that this in principle is not possible. I showed that this is possible. And if answer to you - it is possible but only manually :)

Let's see if JoomShaper wants to be the best or not by developing a great UX for its customers.

Thanks Pavel,

I suggest putting your idea into a new topic, for example "Requesting functions." Because in this topic your idea is lost.
To do this, take a look at the discussion thread of SP PB 3

Thanks Toufiq. JS is already doing great stuff, I'm sure this is not a biggy for JS. They've already done something similar with loading the modules, now do it with loading Pages.

Totally agree. In addition to free input, you should offer different select fields for Articles & MenuItems.

BTW, for inspiration there are some existing J! core form fields. A custom SQL field should also work.
You might also utilize the link picker from the editor XTD buttons. Hence the Articles and Menu linker!
Yootheme Pro did something similar. See animated GIF in this tweet.
