LMS Event category link different to event link

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
Hi Guys,

There seems to be an anomaly with category links and menu links in the LMS system (specifically for events)

For example, when you link to a main category (Menu Item Type- Event Category) with subcategories, you get a series of boxes that then link through to the subcategory events. Example below.
https://pilatesinstituteofqueensland.com.au/courses

The URL structure for this process, if you click through to a singular event, is as follows (I will use Matwork from this website as an example)

1. /courses (main menu item)
2. /courses/eventcategory/matwork
3. continue to click through to an event

Here's where the issue arises. If I li]nk a menu item directly to an event category (for example, the Matwork menu item in the dropdown of 'courses') there is a variation in what get's displayed.

Example
https://pilatesinstituteofqueensland.com.au/courses/eventcategory/matwork (navigated from the main courses menu, then clicking on the matwork box)
and
https://pilatesinstituteofqueensland.com.au/courses/matwork (navigated by the drop-down)

There are two issues here
1. There are two different types of pages being displayed (it would be better if they both linked to one type of page) and
2. The link from the main menu item isn't sortable.

For example, I'm able to sort the events on this page using the menu item that links directly to events (meaning I'm able to list events in a date ascending order) however I'm not able to sort these events as technically there's no menu item linking to it as it's navigated to via the event category menu item.

You will see that both of the pages listing events is showing them in different date orders. (specifically, this page is showing them in descending date order whereas this page is showing them in date ascending order and I have no way of making them the same)

Possible solution
I see two possible solutions.

1. Link the boxes created by the eventcategory link directly to the subcategory (perhaps coding it so the 'eventcategory' is removed from the URL)

2. Add an 'upcoming' sorting feature to the eventcategory menu item (similar to the event menu item) that flows through to the individual events

Hi there,

Thanks for your explanation. For the design purpose, we had done only the events page. We will add this design in the future update.

-Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for the explanation of your query. Your question is very important to us. Can we go ahead step by step to solve your Problem? Because of that, you have dropped a large scale issue. So, I think you will assist me. If you are interested in my proposal, please share a screenshot and details of your first issue. I know you have done already. But, not clear.

-Thanks

Ok - I will try to break this down so it's easily understood. I will use the Quickstart of the Yoga template so you can see what I mean.

Event Category Menu
This menu item links to the eventcategories option.
http://naturalpeppermintoil.com/quickstart/yoga/index.php/events

When you click on the event category "Yoga" you come to this page
http://naturalpeppermintoil.com/quickstart/yoga/index.php/events/eventcategory/yoga

Events Menu
When you link a menu item directly to 'events' and choose the category 'yoga' it links to this page (dropdown menu yoga under events)
http://naturalpeppermintoil.com/quickstart/yoga/index.php/events/yoga

Both link to the 'yoga' event category however they display different pages, layout and order.

Does that make sense?

Both of these should link to either the same page or a page with the same layout options - currently, they link to two different types of pages.
Many thanks - that will be a great addition to the software.
