Malicious .htaccess script that forbid displace of graphic and video files

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
There was a script below added to the .htaccess file of a few my websites that I have installed the SP pagebuider with a business license that just expired a week ago.

RewriteRule .*\.(jpg|jpeg|gif|png|bmp|mp4)$ - [F,NC]

This issue has happened to me the 2nd time right after my license expired without renewal.

There is no trace of this script being inserted manually by anyone. My web hosting service provider suggested that it was programmatically by internal installed component.

Is this done by SP pagebuilder component deliberately? I don't think this is a right practice since Joomshaper has promised that the purchased extension can be used without interruption but losing some update privileges.

Can you firm for me?

Thank you

Suggestion:
Change file rights for .htaccess from 644 > 400

Hi,
it could be added by Akeeba Tools or RSfirewall or similar security plugin.

This is a ridiculous accusation. It would be against GPL license anyway.

I will change the file rights for .htaccess in future. Thanks for advice. It's glad to hear that SP Pagebuilder honours the GPL license T&C.

You guys have been doing a great job as far as the component is concerned. Keep up the good work. Don't forget to upgrade the LMS component. This is an area worth investing and it will bring great ROI for Joomshaper in the long run.

Thanks for your reply.

For sure, all firewall extensions can change that file.

Depending on your hosting package, your webhost may also adjust your htaccess - you see this frequently when you add and configure an SSL package.
