Missing Blocks/Sections

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Good Afternoon,

Disclaimer: I am a brand new user to SP Builder Pro (2 days). I have used joomla for a lot of years and used other frameworks very successfully. I thought i would give this and the helix3 platform a try as one of the other frameworks i used predominately is not very friendly for front-end editing and its just come to a head for me. So me being new to SP Pagebuilder and Helix, please pardon me if what i am asking may sound simple to some of you. :)

So, I am working on a site (at the moment for my personal education in SP Builder and Helix) and trying to wrap my head around how the whole system works and i have been running into certain situations over and over.

1. Blocks and Sections. I guess the term sections is interchangeable with the term blocks? On the backend you try to add a section. on the front end you can add blocks/sections. Yesterday i could see a library of blocks, but today there is nothing (I have an agency license). On the back end, adding a section there is nothing to choose from, blank. Same on front end when accessing the blocks section. - (yes, i have input my license code).

2. When I go to the front end editing, if i make a change within a section i feel like i should obviously save the section. But when i do, it asks me to name the section, even though i have already done that before. This is confusing, what is actually happening? Also, at the top of the page, i cannot even access the green area at the top of the section as it disappears when i try to move the mouse to it to hit save. In general, it seems like i have to hit save in 2 or 3 different areas just to actually save any modifications that i have made. Also kinda confusing.

I have other issues, but i know i cant put them all in one post. Sure some of this is likely user issues not knowing the system yet but i would appreciate any guidance.

Hi there,

Thank you for your query to sharing with us. Your query is very useful to us. Sorry for the inconvenience.

1. Block solution & sections solution.
Create a row first, then try to load the section or block
2. For the second issue, please capture a screencast video. It would be better to understand your second issue.

-Thanks
Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I think possibly what was going on was i needed to add the url of my site to my account at JoomShaper. It seems that JoomShaper prohibits the population of sections or blocks if the url is not added there. I'm not sure i feel too great about having backend server calls from my website(s) to JoomShaper.

Back to your answer to create a row first, and then add a section or block. There literally was nothing to choose from in the sections or blocks areas before, so even if i created a row, the sections area was empty white.

But on a slightly different note, once the empty sections area was sort of sorted, i did discover that there is an order to adding sections and rows. If i make a new page and then try to add a section right away, it breaks the pagebuilder. Nothing will show in the new page, and i now wont have the ability to add a row anymore either.
Delete the page, make a new one, and add a row FIRST. Then a new section will drag in it seems.

I think possibly that is what you were alluding to in your reply above.
Thank you so much for your help, i really appreciate it.

If I may,
please do not use PHP 7.4 beta/RC - it may cause many unexpected problems.
Wait for official support from Joomla Team and Our Team.
Hello,

Thank you for your reply.
To clarify, this practice site is sitting on an AWS EC2 Instance with CentOS 7. The typical packaged release of this has been with PHP 5.6.x for the past number of years, but about 2 weeks ago upon launching a fresh instance i noticed that the packaged PHP was 7.4
I was very surprised myself as this is (in my opinion) kind of unusual. I wonder if this was some kind of mistake.
At any rate, I will launch a fresh Instance and see if the same PHP is still packaged with it, or if i get an older stable release.
Thank you for your advice, i appreciate it.

Yes, giving customers an "unstable" PHP edition (as default) is a very risky game from the server company.

BTW
Even current version of WordPress is not fully ready for PHP 7.4
I definitely agree. :) I was so excited when i saw it because CentOS never releases with beta, so i just assumed it was all good. Silly me.

Thank you for your advice and for pointing out the likely culprit. I am going to downgrade to PHP7.3 and then see what of these strange issues just disappear.

PS> Im not sure how to mark this post as solved.
Have a great rest of the day.
