Page Builder 3.3 Error decoding JSON data: Control character error, possibly incorrectly encoded

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
Hello,

We were dragging and dropping a Text Area around in the page builder module as we wanted to move the location of that text and received a Error decoding JSON data: Control character error, possibly incorrectly encoded, We get this message when we go to edit the module as well. This can also be seen on the front end here: http://leatherarchives.org/.new/support/current-donors

Not that much was done, so re-doing the module will be easier enough but figured you would like to look at this problem in case it's something that is not unique to us.

Please let me know who or how to send hosting and site access to so you can look at this. I can also send a copy of the site if that would be better.

Thank you,
Mike

I wanted to supply some more info, today we were coping and pasting as plain text content from page http://leatherarchives.org/donors.html into the module
Members and Donors Module for contributors-2 in a text block and got the same error.

An error has occurred.

0 Error decoding JSON data: Control character error, possibly incorrectly encoded

We are at a stand still now with this, given that we don't trust the Page Builder to not error out on us.

Thank you,
Mike

Hi there,

I would request you to copy first your content and keep it in your notepad for removing the junk code. Then copy from notepad & paste into the content area.

-Thanks

We were coping and pasting as plain text, so I don't think that is the issue as junk code should have been removed.

Hi there, Could you send me a screencast video with Joomla administrator access via pm? Thanks

I got around the problem, what I did instead of using a module for what I needed was to use a page and that worked. We did not run into any of the problems with a page that we ran into a module with. We don't have a screencast of the problem and I do not want to do this for a 3rd time to re-create the problem. I have PM'ed you with cpanel and site access.

«Error decoding JSON data: Syntax error» occurs every time when trying to save a module larger than 65535 bytes. This is caused by the fact that the table #__modules «params» field is of type TEXT, which has the above-mentioned size. Joomla does not check if the size of the data written into the table exceeds the size of the field.

When writing large data into a small field, there is no exception, the data is simply truncated. Then we read the incomplete JSON string and try to convert it to an object, and, of course, the error occurs.

The solution might be to convert the psrams field to the LONGBLOB type using query:

ALTER TABLE `#__modules` CHANGE `params` `params` LONGBLOB NOT NULL;

Where #_ is a table prefix in a database.

Hi there,

The developer team told me If you wanna use large-scale content into the module. Then it's not possible.

-Thanks

That's the wrong answer.
In this example ( http://saffarich.ru/index.php/ru/enimals-ru/katalog-zhivotnykh ) you can see a module of 44!!! rowes, each with 4 text blocks. And it works perfectly!

Why, in other cases, many people have problems adding the 10th line? Apparently there is a "floating" bug. And I really want the developers to still fix it. We need stability.

Hi Vadim,

With respect, previous answer was correct. In module you can't add many addons but can add single addon many times. Some single addon you can add 100 times but all 50 addons can't add in one module page.

Thanks,
Mamun

Hello! OK. The problem : i add in 1 row 3 of the SAME addon. With simple html code. Then i just copied the row just 5 times. Total: 15 of the SAME Addons. Only 15.
And... Error decoding JSON data: Control character error, possibly incorrectly encoded "error when trying to save this module. Do you think that's normal?

You can see this module with the same Addons on the site that I was given access to yesterday by Toufiq . And where I have to simulate the situation with an error.

I cannt add single addon many times!!!

Hi,

I told some addon you can add many times not every addon in your case may that addon not in some addon section. In previous reply you told about Text Block addon so I mentioned that. By the way, I am leaving this topic and let Toufiq handle this issue. Also as far I know there are no way to add many addon to module page.

Thanks,
Mamun

On this page http://saffarich.ru/index.php/ru/aboutus-ru/oformlenie-5 you can see the display of the module, which contains 42 rowes, each with 3 text modules with html-code. And it works without problems. So it's real ? )

p.s. But when I try through "export" - "import" to added this page on a site that is working on the same version of Joomla (3.9.3), in purchased version of SP Builder, I get an error. From here I conclude that this is a bug. And I want to find the reason.

But I added 170 text Addons! And there were no mistakes there!(see example above.) And on the basis of this I have built a page of the site. Now it needs to rebuild because you do not want to understand the causes of unstable work ?

I am categorically not satisfied with the professionalism of the technical support service. I'm not sure that you can count on a trouble-free website with this level of support. It isn't comfortable for me.

OK. You don't want to understand - it isn't necessary. I want return the money ( I paid on March 11). And i will buy the similar product from other developers.

We have fixed this issue in 3.4.9. Delete your previous error prone page and start that page from scratch.

You removed the integration with Joomla in the modules. Work became 10 times less convenient(( Stability appeared but it became more difficult and longer to work ( I returned to the previous version of SP Builder

Hi there, Thanks for your reply. There is no way to manage the Joomla module and database to push large scale data. That's why we had to choose this process. Thanks
