SP Pagebuilder Very Odd problem - Still

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
Hi, I use SP Pagebuilder 3.3.8 Pro with my company's website (http://wheatstone.com), and 3.4.1 Lite with my personal work on a completely different server from a completely different provider (http://loudoldguys.com/AbbeyRoad).

I have an issue that happens in both that is maddening...

When I add a TEXT addon and open to edit, the default editor is the HTML window. Clicking once in that gives me a blank white page. I have to close out of the page I am working on and re-open it to go back to work on it.

HOWEVER, if you click to make the text editor the JCE pro, and then go back to the HTML editor, everything works fine.

It happens whether I am editing from any browser on my Mac (running Mojave latest) or from my iPad (iOS 12 latest).

I've made a video illustrating it, but it's too big to upload. Here is a link to a Dropbox so you can see it happening...

In this video, saving the file with at the white-box stage doesn't hurt it, but the first time this happened, I lost the entire page. Here is a link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/3wufk1acugvebn4/PagebuilderProblem.mp4?dl=0

Can you please advise?

Thanks,
Bob

Make sure that you have installed JCE v2.6.35, not older (!)

Yes, that is installed. Have you tried to replicate the problem? So far, for others I’ve shown, it’s 100% replicatable.

I don’t know how to use TinyMCE editor in Pagebuilder. It might not do that at all.

I DO know that using JCE Pro in Articles does NOT cause the same thing to happen.

It happens when, in a Pagebuilder Doc, a Text Add On is saved in HTML viewing mode (and WHY does that box shrink to such a tiny size in the latest builds?). Try it. Create a text box. Click the little circle to the top left of it to go to HTML editing mode, and save and close the text box. Reopen the text box and click in the HTML editor window. Bam - your whole window goes away and the only way out is to close the page and reopen it.

There’s another problem with weird DIVs being created that at first don’t show in the HTML editor, but then do show there. You can see them in your pages as big gaps, but when you go to fix, there appears to be no code there. Swap back and forth, view the text editor and the HTML editor a few seemingly random times, then the code shows up. I’ll copy and paste the code I am getting in my next message.

All this showed up in the last couple builds of PageBuilder...

Here is the code that's playing hide and seek and how it shows up:

<div id="mceResizeHandlenw" data-mce-bogus="all" class="mce-resizehandle mce-resizehandle-nw" unselectable="true" style="cursor: nw-resize; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; left: 0.5px; top: 13.5px;"> </div>
<div id="mceResizeHandlene" data-mce-bogus="all" class="mce-resizehandle mce-resizehandle-ne" unselectable="true" style="cursor: ne-resize; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; left: 850.5px; top: 13.5px;"> </div>
<div id="mceResizeHandlese" data-mce-bogus="all" class="mce-resizehandle mce-resizehandle-se" unselectable="true" style="cursor: se-resize; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; left: 850.5px; top: 439.5px;"> </div>
<div id="mceResizeHandlesw" data-mce-bogus="all" class="mce-resizehandle mce-resizehandle-sw" unselectable="true" style="cursor: sw-resize; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; left: 0.5px; top: 439.5px;"> </div>

This has happened in Text boxes where I use JCE Pro to create a JCE pop up window of an image.

Have you asked Ryan (JCE developer)? He also uses SPPB for a while.

I don’t know how to use TinyMCE editor in Pagebuilder.

No comments. Just set TinyMCE editor instead JCE for your user, and test again.

Hi, it doesn't happen with TinyMCE editor because that window does not exist there.

I've posted in the JCE forum. Hopefully between the two of you, this will get worked out...

I knew that @Ryan is a smart & helpful guy, he responded already:
This is fixed in the next update. You can test it here - https://www.joomlacontenteditor.net/downloads/editor/pro/development/item/jce-pro-dev

When I add a TEXT addon and open to edit, the default editor is the HTML window. Clicking once in that gives me a blank white page. I have to close out of the page I am working on and re-open it to go back to work on it.

I have managed to isolate this error thanks to @wheatsone allowing me site access and in my own local tests.

Unfortunately I am not able to fix this in the JCE Editor.

JCE allows you to set an option for the editor to be "off" by default, or the be turned off by clicking the toggle / power button. When this is done, this "off" state is stored, and when the editor is loaded again, it is loaded in this "off" state. In this state, the Tinymce scripts are loaded (so Tinymce etc. can be detected), but a Tinymce editor has not yet been created - this will happen when the editor is switched "on".

In this "off" state in SP PageBuilder, when you click in the textarea as @wheatstone has done, an event is fired in the SP PageBuilder engine.js script (around line 52756 unminified), which assumes that a Tinymce editor has been created, eg:

var t = d.default.findDOMNode(this.refs.richEditor),
n = jQuery(t).attr("id"),
r = tinyMCE.get(n);
(0, v.default)(r.getContent(), e.input.value) || r.setContent(e.input.value)

In this code, the variable r is not checked, and is assumed to be a Tinymce instance, so r.getContent() is called, resulting in a javascript error, and the blank page @wheatstone experiences.

This will require a fix in SP PageBuilder.

Paul, your reply was good for one, but it turns out there are two problems. The problem with the added DIV codes is what Ryan said would be fixed in the next JCE. However, he's determined the problem with the box causing the page to disappear isn't JCE's fault. He's provided information two posts above about how it is happening in SP Pagebuilder.

You were certainly right - Ryan IS a smart guy. You all are!

Thanks,
Bob

"Fix: JCE editor toolbar issue" - I wasn't absolutely sure that this was what we were referring to it as. I've just installed it on my test site and it has corrected the problem. Thanks all!
