Presets and updates

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Hi,

I read a lot of questions on this topic:
"how to modify the presets"
thanks to these answers, I managed to choose a preset and then modify it, in particular by activating:
"Compile SCSS to CSS"

But I still have a very important question:
if you change the presets from the back-office interface, will these changes be reset at update?

This is what I understood in this post: you must modify the values of the predefined parameters in the options.xml file so that they are not overwritten.

Title

Thanks for your reply. Each preset consists of a unique set of color. If you use any preset & want to change major color link color etc then you have to change from the option.xml file. Or, if you wanna write down your own CSS code then you have to write down CSS code inside the custom.css file. Otherwise, your next Template update will reset the modification.

I really need a clear answer on that, please

custom.css - can be edited from back-end as well, Joomla has this feature.
custom_css_file.png

Keeping all changes in one place seems to be the most reasonable solution.

Hi,
yes, during each update all template files are overridden,
the only exception is for custom.css file.
or files which weren't included by core template.
(it was described in Helix documentation)
p.s.
Settings of the template are not overridden, because they are inside the database.

From my experience I can tell you want me or our users do:
1) They rename template and update files manually
2) Use custom.css for all CSS customizations.
3) They do not update a template, they update template framework only.

Hi,

Thank you very much for responding so quickly,

I was using another framework so far, and this is the first time I've used the Joomshaper Helix Framework.

So I read the documentation from the beginning; and I'm here for this "Presets":

- For now, I installed Helix Ultimate on my Joomla site, following the Doc, method 1:
https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/helixultimate#documentation-heading-1_1

- I installed the konstra Template
- And when I make modifications in this template:
templates/ konstra / Template Options / Presets

as explained in the doc:
https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/helix-framework/helixultimate#presets-settings

I want to know if my changes will not be overwritten during the update, which is explained here in the Doc:
https://www.joomshaper.com/documentation/joomla-templates/konstra#template-update

I understand that the custom.css file is never overwritten during the update: I created this file in my css folder of my template konstra -> but I find it really convenient to be able to make changes directly from the back-office interface offered by Helix Ultimate ->
So my question: what is the best way to customize your project without customizations being overwritten during the update?

Hi,

thank you so much,

Being a novice in this framework, I will follow your recommendations

it is true that in terms of maintainability, it is more convenient to have everything in the same file
