No screenshot, so I have to guess

1) You can make slider images darker using Photoshop or Gimp
2) You can add text-shadow using custom CSS for selected class names

.sppb-slideshow-fullwidth-vertical-middle h1,

.sppb-slideshow-fullwidth-vertical-middle p,
sppb-slideshow-fullwidth-vertical-middle span,
{text-shadow: 0px 1px 3px #333;}

3) Or / And you can add half-transparent block under text only

background: rgba(0,0,0,0.3);
padding: 4%;
