Quickstart Problem (Finance Template) - Forbidden/Permission Error

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
I followed your instructions carefully and have a problem with the site returning the following message:
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
Server unable to read htaccess file, denying access to be safe

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

There was an existing .htaccess file in the public_html directory - I renamed it and changed my htaccess.txt to .htaccess. Permissions are set as follows: .htaccess (644), public_html (744).

Any help would be amazing - thanks in advance.

Hi,
maybe talk with hosting support.
This kind of error is not from Joomla, and for sure not from our software.
--------
Anytime, you can install a raw Joomla 3.9 (joomla.org) to be 100% sure where a source of a problem can be.
