Showing a single Joomla article in sppage builder

Featured Lock Resolved Task
I was contacted by someone at the London Joomla User Group who said they could not find a way to show just a single Joomla article in sp page builder.
I replied it must be able to , I know it does categories and I can see the case where you would want to have the page builder add lots of good stuff above and below an article with sppagebuilder but bring the content in with sp page builder. But I have just tried and I cannot see a way apart from putting single articles in single categories!! What am I doing wrong?
How do you bring in a single joomla article into a sp page builder page?

Hi,
next time please check also our forum, we have SEARCH field as well.
---
In Joomla it's not possible to use two components on single page. By default, without any hacks.
SPPB is component
Article is compoment
-----
But SPPB have also SPPB module, ...what can you do with this knowledge.
I did search the forums and so have several others who have also not found the answer.

I was asking it on behalf of several and on Tuesday at the London Joomla user group we were doing a talk on joomshaper and using it in your build process hence why the question came up as several said there seemed to be a way to add a a category of articles but not a single article.

So if I add multiple articles to a page using sppagebuilder "articles" addon thats not a component but if it referenced a single id it would be a component?

Sorry but thats not the case.

Also you can have multiple components on a page with joomla, you can use components anywhere by regularlabs and bring a component into a module.
a component in an article

Yes I could have a module which brings in a single article but thats going to increase the load time and the processing on the page.

If you give rude and patronising answers then you will discourage people from using your product or asking questions and thats not a good thing.

I mentioned about default features, not hacks. And components anywhere is sort of hack solution, I hope you agree with me.
About search, sorry it wasn't rude at all, I read forum everyday, so I remember questions & answers from past about this same, you don't. Sorry again, if you might felt something else.

Yes, we have plans to build addon which will display whole single article, but I don't know when it would happen.

Can we close topic now?

Knock, knock. If Joomla is so powerful, why you cannot display two components on single page?
Sorry by default is not possible, it request hacks. It's not so simple as you think.

WP is even more limited. hahah.

So instead of answering with a solution you complain and berate a customer? You're lucky you don't work for me as this would have sent you packing. I was able to work around the problem so it IS simple so perhaps a more professional response would be best next time. I could care less about WP or ANY other solution as I was asking about yours...

You have to be more relaxed. I love Joomla since 2005, so believe me, I know almost all possibilities and limitations. I even have written some books about J!. :p

We have in plans to add this feature, but I don't know when, so I cannot promise you any date.

OK, I get it that Joomla supports only one component per page and single articles are components.
So, can you create a plugin that captures the text of an article by referencing its article ID and put that as an option to use in a text box?

Why? I could then create a secondary menu, perhaps at the bottom of the page, to allow search engines and people to browse the articles as a blog. Doing that would enable me to add needed meta descriptions for Google search.

Paul, read tip "How to use shortcodes..." from:

it may help you solve your task.

ad 3) Article addon is almost like typical News module it can display articles intro.

SP Page Builder first was build as independent Page Builder, then users asked for Article integration.
So instead using Pages, now you can build whole site using Articles like in "old times" , but with new design touch.

Beside SPPB is also module, so you can use that module everywhere.

Hi Paul,

1 - Many Thanks !

2 - Many Thanks for info

I'm agree and that would be the Title that explain better its feature.

Adding Content to the article with "Text Block" addon mean add Content to that Joomla article ?
That, in my opinion, at least would be the Article integration...

Probably when Joomla 4.0 arrives we could consider other types of integration.

SO far you have SPPB in 2nd tab of article only.

I'm so glad I've read this thread. Purchased page builder a few days ago and after about an hour realised it was not possible. It's real shame because you can make pages look really fancy but not articles.

I don't like the idea of putting valuable article content into the builder in case something goes wrong down the line.

The only way I found to do it is to create a module using is builder and adding the module to the position you want it in the article. Not as seamless as building a page with true front-end view, but it works.

If the limitation is down to Joomla we cannot do much about that.

Dan, it's a limitation from Joomla, you can display only one component view. Most Joomla users know about it.
You can use Article integration and have SPPB inside
or
find a module which will display the whole article inside.

After thinking it through, i have to agree with Paul. It was my old mindset that brought me to this thread. Being so used to creating sites through articles I was fixed on making it work that way without thinking is it logical to do so. Gives credence to the old adage "just because you have always done something doesnt mean its the best way to do it". For something that will be static this is epic, it makes no sense to use an article when i can simply create a module or the content on page instead. But we can still use the article functionality especially blog wise using the articles addon. Thanks for the info and this amazing addon. being able to build visually saves me hours. i can code it from the ground up but this is so much more efficient.

I am sorry Joshua but I could not disagree with you more.

I was really excited when I purchased page builder because it looks great. It's also very easy to use. However, moving away from using Joomla Articles to add your content is a huge risk.

If you decide to start adding your content to SP pages what will you do when Joomla 4 arrives?

Also, how well can Google Bots scan SP pages for content?

Also, What if they decide to stop building SP page builder (no updates)?

When Joomla 4 arrives all of your content will be stuck in a plugin that is not compatible with Joomla 4.

It is so much of a risk that it has actually made me put my project on hold until Joomla 4 arrives.

Thanks
Dan

@Dan
Even without updates SPPB still works.
Joomla 4 is planned for next year, and we have time to update our software.
how well can Google Bots scan SP pages for content? -- believe me, quite well, my private site built on SPPB only is on 1st place in Google.
