Smart Search - Suggestions don't work after any update

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
Hi,

Smart Search was working for weeks but now i don't get any search suggestions on my project.
I have reindexed all - no suggestions. I checked the module & menue entry for the suggestions - everything is set correct. I excluded all own scripts - no effect. Changing to protostar template - suggestions are working. So there must be a bug on helix ultimate - i don't get any conflicts on the console - nothing.

Can you please check where the problem comes from? I need to finish my project and whenever you make updates you fix old things and producing new problems. It makes more sense to have a stable system instead getting tons of new functions that produce new problems :(

Cheers Ralf

Same issue here. I can confirm that the SmartSearch AUTO-SUGGEST feature does not work.

The MENUITEM/COMPONENT search input does NOT show any suggestions.
Funnily the MODULE search input does work!

By the way, the issue is also in previous release v1.0.5
I have tried v1.1 update and latest Joomla System Update. Same issues.
The Protostar template does work though!

Hi,
Delete folder: templates\shaper_helixultimate\html\com_finder
and check again.
it may (or not) help.

I guess It was the only part of smart search which was overridden. Hmm... no idea for today.

Yes, I figured out that it is the culprit for the component's search input.
Apparently the following files have unusual code lines:

default_form.php
default.php

Both files seem to rely on the script "awesomplete.min.js" ?!
Strange, because isn't it a future javascript for Joomla 4 ?
As far as I can see, Joomla 3 does not even ship with it (yet).

The module issue is another question. Obviously not a bug per se, but a special issue with the module assignment and duplicate existence. Most likely the search input ID occurs twice.
Ralf N. is going to comment later on...

I made tests on
Helix Ultimate (with all files):
1) In Smart Search Module I saw suggested words
2) In Smart Search component I have not seen suggested words, but after a search I see results

Helix Ultimate (with removed com_finder override folder, and no extra modules):
1) In Smart Search Module I saw suggested words
2) In Smart Search component I saw suggested words, as well

Helix3 (with all files):
1) In Smart Search Module I saw suggested words
2) In Smart Search component I saw suggested words, as well

Ok to clarify also my situation and what happends:

On my project i have defined two header sections. One header for Desktopversions and the other one for mobile versions. On both sections i included the "menu" position. So far so good. But i don't realized in the first and next hundred views that i have included also the smart search module inside the megamenu. So the reason why it don't works was the duplicated id for the formfield.

No i will think about to take out the module from the menuarea and try to position the smartsearch modules in normal modul positions. Hope this will work.

At the end the problem with the menu item type smartsearch still exists. We checked that only pure helix ulitmate was active, taken out all own js and css parts. But it is still not working. So we hope for a quick fix for that.

Best Ralf

We tested on two websites, and we couldn't reproduce the issue with a component view

we talk about Smart Search component view, not a smart search module, right?

As pepperstreet mentioned: The component view works only if we delete or rename the /html/com_finder folder. Then it works. Without this step it works not!

To fix the section problem i have no put also two sections in but only have the menu on the normal header section. For mobile i add a second section within the logo - this section is set as static like the header and is behind the headersection. Headersection Background set to be transparent - so the mobile logo appears.

Advantage from this setup is that i can use the menu in a 12 col widht on desktop without a logo and on mobile i will have the burger menu within a displayed logo. This constructions is only so complicated as you only allow one single row inside a section. It would be much easier if it would be possible to set rows like 12+6+6 inside the layoutbuilder. If this would be possible i can arrange the behaviour for menu and logo more detailed ;)

Our developer made a new version of Helix today with improved smart search. Somebody wants to be a "test rabbit" ? let me know.

Helix Ultimate v1.1.1
component and module AutoSuggest feature works!
Seem to use the correct J!3 jquery AutoComplete script.

But I found another issue:

The SmartSearch seem to index pagebuilder's CATEGORIES as well?
Therefor they are listed in search results. Which leads to wrong/not working URLs!
As far as I know, categories have no frontend display or usage (yet).
Are there any plans in the future?

The new CATEGORY issue is not template related.
The Indexer does pickup the pagebuilder categories.
Although they are for backend use only. Until now.
A frontend link can't work, nor show something relevant.
Currently, they should not be indexed at all.
As a workaround, you might want to exclude the SP categories from "Content Maps"... but you can't. They are not listed. Only Joomla categories appear in "Content Maps".
Removing SP categories from index is possible, but not the solution. A new index or index update might add them again.

(should I move the Categories issue in a new topic? It does not relate to the initial question)
