SP Page Builder module not working after updated to 3.4.11---Possible solutions

Featured Lock Resolved
We received several forum posts about "module not working after updating to 3.4.11". So here are the possible solutions:

First: This is a silly one. After updating to 3.4.11, please clear browser and website cache then edit or create new module page. By clearing cache our 75% users' issue was solved.

Second: This is template specific, if you or your developer ever override module then you will save the module but will not get any data in the module position (only module title is showing). What you need to do fix the issue is simple. Go to your website server: /your-website-directory/template-name/html then delete (take a backup before doing it) the folder: "mod_sppagebuilder", check your website, module is showing perfectly. Other 20% users' issue will be fixed in this stage.

Third: I don't know why they edit the module in this way. They open module in backend and frontend then edit that in frontend and save there, again come to backend (browser tab) and save also in backend without reloading the browser tab so they get empty module because without reloading browser tab their edited content don't come in backend on the fly. Our recommendation is that don't use two editing options. Use only one, either backend or frontend. Other 5% users' issue will be fixed in this stage.

We covered 100% solution. :D :D

Note: Module duplicate is not working. Yes, that should not work in new module system. We can't give support for that option but there is another way to do that. Use "Export" and "Import" option to duplicate module.

Thanks for reading.

Well, I installed 3.4.11. And I was able to change the module. I cleared the cache also.

Unfortunately, after saving, The module stopped working completely.

Hi @Kirti,

What about second option?

Thanks

Not sure how that will work as I am working on the backend for editing the module. And after saving the page (in the backend) freezes

Best,
Kirti

Thanks

Hello, in my case the second solution works. Thank you! Best regards, Markus
Just a gentle reminder: There is still a bug with pre-made sections. Try to add a section as the first item. The editor area goes blank. Further editing is impossible.
Good morning,
we also had the same problems and we share with you the "half" solutions we found.

1. Installed PB 3.4.11 on joomla 3.9.8 PHP 7.1.2
Page Builder works, but almost all Joomla modules no longer work. From the list it is possible to duplicate them, delete them, publish them, etc. but nothing can be done from inside the module.
We have progressively disabled the other components to see if there was any conflict. Anything.
In the global control the Modules table of the db is always locked. We unlock it, but after a few activities it crashes again.
Then we updated the Helix3 and Framework plugins, something improved after that, but we still have problems saving the modules.
Only those that are not assigned to all pages or to any page can be saved.
We have updated PB 3.5 because it is no longer possible to return to stable 3.4.7, for all that we have already created with 3.4.11.
With 3.5 the problem remained.

2. Installed 3.5 from 3.4.7 on joomla 3.9.8 PHP 7.2
Initially, the creation of new menu items no longer worked.
We turned off the PB menu form and something has improved.
However, there were problems with saving the modules until suddenly error 500 and we could no longer access either the back end or the front end. Fortunately it was a test site for which we restored it by reloading the backup and resetting and reloading the db.
It works and we've updated PB to 3.5.
Everything works: menus, modules, PB. We have not yet tested the creation of articles. The PB pages are created, updated and saved correctly.

Our impression is that there are big problems between PB> Helix> DB and PHP. What worries us is that these latest updates by PB, which for us is now essential, have created serious problems that require hours of work.

Please find a solution as soon as possible and double the tests before releasing updates.

That being said ... you are the best.
...and double the tests before releasing updates.

Yep, I can't stress this enough! Quantity of features and templates do not matter for your customers... Quality rules!!!

Hi GABRIELE,

Thank you very much for the suggestion. For your kind information, I want to let you know that we have 3 persons for test also have some server for test but sometime we miss different thing because in our test server/pc work correctly, think about this issue first time for me it take two days to produce this issue because I always clear cache and hard reload the browser so can't produce the issue. Also you know there are many parameter for one website like PHP version, MySql version, Joomla Version and 3rd party plugin/component/extension etc. We always try to test all parameter but somehow miss.

We will double test before update though we test thanks for the suggestion again.

Mamun

I seem to be having the same problem Running Joomla 3.8.9 and PB 3.5.0. my SP Page Builder Module stopped working. I think it was when I updated. As you see in attachment, I can no longer see content of Module - front or backend. I tried the solutions above, and they did not seem to work.

@andy,

Please try first solution properly. I think first solution will work for you.

Thanks,

Hello,
Joomla 3.9.8 PB 3.5
More or less same as Andy.
Modules are empty when opened in backend or frontend.
Position can´t be changed
Module can´t be saved. Joomla freezes.

DO NOT OPEN ANY PB MODULES ON A PRODUCTION SITE.
They are lost.
Nightmare

Hi @grafixpress,

I need at-least one of you site login details via private message.

Thanks,
Mamun
I’m in the exact same situation as grafixpress and Andy
Having PB Modules, once upgraded to SPPB 3.5 ..
Situation before upgrade : J398 – SPPB3.4.4 – PHP 7.2 : works OK
Upgraded to SPPB 3.5 and problem arised
So, to ansmer your 3 solutions:
1 – Clear caches both onBrowser and Website : still problem – check on ather laptops : still problem
2 – template : Newskit
3 – on backend, editing module is not possible (joomla Frozen) button for Front-End editing goes frontend but not working : still blank module
I tried to create a new module, but impossible: saving impossible not working
Thanks for your support, I leave you exchanging with grafixpress and waiting for your proposals !!
Bertrand
We've hit serious issues with this, the sppb modules display empty when saved from the back end. There has been hours of work setting up these modules now they disappear on save on the front end.

The development roadmap for SP needs more rigorous testing other wise users will leave it. Upgrading is such a worry at the moment and for a small business with a large site it could cripple it.
NOTE: Second Solution Fixed Issue

I think we will be going back to creating module positions within the template and assigning modules to these instead of using the sppb module.
NOTE: Second Solution Fixed Issue

Fyi, I Just re installed previous version : J3.9.8 + SPPB 3.4.9 : create new module, modify module : OK
Upgraded to 3.4.11 (all caches cleared) :
- Editing module only via front end but all contents has disappear, Need to redraw the whole module - looks as save function works
- go to back-end module: joomla frozen, impossible to quit /save in the backend module edition.

The 2nd Solution work for me:

Second:

This is template specific, if you or your developer ever override module then you will save the module but will not get any data in the module position (only module title is showing). What you need to do fix the issue is simple. Go to your website server: /your-website-directory/template-name/html then delete (take a backup before doing it) the folder: "mod_sppagebuilder", check your website, module is showing perfectly. Other 5% users' issue will be fixed in this stage.

Hi Giles, Thanks.

That is why, I always give suggestion to try all solution.

So, I am updating percentage of second solution to 20 percent in private message and from comment I can assume that that percentage should upgrade.

PLEASE, show this information as an important message right after installation!
Definitely saves support time and user’s nerves. The quick and easy installations make users lazy... even me! For instance, RegularLabs .nl extensions provide such a message. Not annoying at all, just a gentle important reminder.
Hi Bertrand,

Please try other solutions.

Thanks,
Mamun

Well, great explanation !!
I imagne solution 2 about template specific ?
Sorry but the directory mod_sppagebuilder does not exists.
I re installed from a J3.9.5 and SPPB 3.4.9 ..still working since weeks.
Upgraded to J3.9.8 and problems arise. I feel a problem with J398

PHP Version 7.2
Joomla! 3.9.8
SP Page Builder Pro Version: 3.4.11
shaper_newskit template

What I checked / did about your 3 possible solutions:
First: Cleared Joomla cache, tried on iphone and ipad, cleared cache on FireFox, Opera, Chrome and Edge, tried on other laptops : problems still exists on all case, modules had disappeared.
Second: public_html/templates/shaper_newskit/html : the folder: "mod_sppagebuilder" does not exists.
Third: The only possibility is to click on the button front End Edit with SP Page Builder. New window is open but content is empty. Exit without saving, then close the window and back to backend : Joomla is frozen.

Any suggesiton ?

You are still teh best, but please, understand the problem
