Submenu items being shown twice when megamenu enabled

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Is there a reason that submenu items (3rd level items) are showing twice on this site when I enabled MegaMenu for the parent "Products" item?

https://www.exterity.com/redesign/?iptv=1

In addition, the dropdown menu for the final menu item "ABOUT" is being pushed off the page to the right hand side and is only partially visible?

Hi there,

Thanks for your query. Sorry for the inconvenience. Is it possible to share a screenshot menu backend area & Could you send me the Joomla administrator access via PM?

-Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for your PM. I have tried to log in but, failed to login inside the Joomla administrator access via PM.

Are you talking about this issue?

Sorry, there are actually two issues and I think I got the separate post threads confused.

So one issue is as in the screenshot with third-level items showing twice when I enable Megamenu (as shown in your screenshot) and the other is that the last menu item's dropdown (ABOUT) slips off the edge of the page when you hover over it so is only partially readable.

Hi there,

I have rechecked the video. But, the problem is not clear instead of dropdown dobule menu.

The video was for the issue of the dropdown menu appearing slightly off-screen - the issue of the duplicate items on the dropdown is the one from your screen shot.

If you look at that menu in your screenshot you'll see that there is a menu header AVEDIASTREAM, underneath that are the menu items which are children of that one and they show up in blue just underneath it.

If you look further down, however, those child items *also* appear before the Avediacare menu item. So the menu structure is:

Products
> AvediaStream
> > AvediaStream Gateways
> > AvediaStream Encoders
> > AvediaStream Transcoders
> > AvediaStream Origin Server
> AvediaCare
> Project Commissioning
> etc.

The Gateways, Encoders, Transcoders and Origin Server items should only be shown under the AvediaStream header but are being shown twice when they should only be shown one

Hi there,

I have checked your issue & found a duplicate menu inside the menu area. Another issue does not figure out. Please share another screencast.

Hi Toufiq

I don't believe that is actually the issue as those are *separate* menu items in another part of the menu. Please see image attached, this is Itemid811 which is one of the ones you thought were a duplicate, however if you'll notice this menu item isn't set to appear in the Products submenu at all, it is a child of Support>Software Downloads.

Also if you disable SEF URLs then check those menu items under PRODUCTS again you'll see that both have the same ItemID which confirms it's the same menu item being output twice, once as a child of the AVEDIASTREAM header menu item (which is where it should be) and another appearing beneath this (which shouldn't be appearing).

Hi Simon,
Thanks for your query. I've checked your issue and i've created a new test menu-item for testing purpose and found that everything is working fine. You can also check my testing screencast here https://files.fm/u/h88xzzbr
And the right menu cutoff issue is causing because your menu is set to float right. I've used some custom css to fix that. (which you'll find in that screencast)
Hope this'll help.

Hi Sifat

Apologies for the delayed response, have been caught up with other things and haven't had a proper chance to study this after my initial look.

I've viewed your video and checked the links now however the issue seems to be with menu types of MENU HEADING as when I adjusted your test items to be more similar to the submenu I was having an issue with, the same thing happened. What I did was changed the 2nd-level link (test111) from a fake link to a Menu Heading, then moved some of your other test links as children of that one, as soon as I did that the final menu item (test112) appears twice for no apparent reason.

So there seems to be some issue with the way the megamenu is handling submenu items when one of them is a Menu Heading?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Actually i found it's working fine in my end even if i've used the menu-heading. Please check this screencast. https://files.fm/u/tdgqevde

Note: What i would suggest you to please install a fresh quickstart pack to your localhost and recheck the issue there. If it's working there then something is wrong in your end, may be some third party confliction. Or you can just use a hash link there if that solves the issue for you.

Thanks for this but I'm not sure if you are accurately replicating the issue at your end as it only seems to occur when we enable the Megamenu option. When i disable it to get a regular menu, we don't have any menu item duplication.

In your screencast you don't have this megamenu option enabled. Can you try enabling this and seeing what happens?

Please check this screencast https://files.fm/u/x76zkkej

Note: Please install the helix3 quickstart pack in your localhost and try to recreate the issue there and let me know if that works there or not. If you could recreate the issue in your localhost then please share a screencast thus i can recreate that too in my end and provide you a solution.

-Thanks

Aw, crap, I've just realised this was posted under HELIX3 when it should have been HELIXULTIMATE!

I only realised when I saw a variation in the screencast you provided in how the MegaMenu bit looks compared to mine. I'll try a test with a clean HelixUltimate install first.
