The two Page Builder Pro features we still miss the most

Featured Lock Resolved Task
Hello,

there are still two features we miss in the great and so much appreciated Page Builder Pro.

Edit texts, headings, every text element etc. directly in the layout

Now, if you want to edit texts, headings, every text element of add-ons in the front end, you click on the element and then have to edit the text in the text small editor box in the sidebar.

That is not only time consuming but also very unpractical especially when texts get a bit longer than just a few sentences. Then either the tiny text editing box starts scrolling within the little box, or you have to keep enlarging it. Of course you can use the full screen option of the text editing box, but you don't see the layout any more. And the GUI then is also, let's say, design of the 90ies.

It would be great just to click in any text, heading, add-on in the layout and type and edit there. There is another Joomla Page Builder on the market that does exactly that (but missing most of the other great SP Page Builder Pro features) and editing text there is so much faster and better.

The formating options should still be available there.

Frontend editing of native Joomla articles in the Page Builder mode

The option to have the Page Builder Pro features in a Joomla article is great, but we cannot edit these in the frontend like native Page Builder Pro pages.

Please bring Page Builder Pro editing of Joomla articles to the front end. Including the possibility of switching from article to Page Builder Pro mode. Just like in the back end.

This of course makes the most sense if the text editing feature mentioned above is already implemented. Otherwise writing an article or blog post in the small text box in the sidebar would really be uncomfortable.

Thanks for considering these features that would make Page Builder Pro even better.

Hey Paul,
happy to hear about 2nd. Do you think we'll see 1st anytime soon too?

I can have only hope, as you. Because I know that solution from concrete5 CMS.

Hello,

there is another good example of how to handle the edit texts, headings, every text element etc. directly in the layout mentioned above.

I came across a free website builder (for Mac and PC) called Mobirise. It’s features are limited and it’s no comparison to any CMS but the way it handles text is a great role model for our favorite Joomla page builder. Especially since it’s functionality of pulling blocks, what we call sections in SP Page Builder, from the sidebar onto the page is similar to SP Page Builder.

When you click on any text, header etc. you can immediately start to write, delete, copy, paste etc. there in the layout, not a separate editing box. Next to your click a small bar appears with the two most common formatting options. If you select text, these options change (like for setting up links etc.). The only unpractical thing is that you have to click on an arrow in the bar to enlarge it to four formatting options, instead of showing them right from the beginning.

I built a website with this yesterday and after that going back to editing text on my otherwise beloved Page Builder Pro was so much more „unhandy“.

Another text editing feature that saves a great amount of time

When you have a row with multiple columns of headers and text in the above mentioned website builder you only format one, e.g. the first, and all columns are changed that way.

Often in Page Builder Pro I have a row with multiple subrows with multiple columns with the same add-on. E.g. the feature box with icon, header and text to show the different features of a company’s services on the website. This could be, let’s say ten times the feature box add-on.

When I want to change the colour, size or alignment of their icons or the size of the header for different screen sizes / devices I have to change every single one of them separately. That is a huge waste of time.

Imagine there was an option in the add-ons or the rows to have formatting changes (including header, text and icon formats, padding, background colours etc.) you make in one add-on then apply to all similar add-ons of the row, or those that could be selected for this.

In my example above with ten add-ons that would be a 10x time saver. For every single change.

I had this case countless times.

Please kindly forward this to the great Page Builder Pro developer team.

Many thanks.

I agree with you completely. But at the same time, together with the text editing function directly in the layout, this small editor box in the sidebar must remain alive. There you can use the most powerful JCE editor, which allows you to edit not only text, but also create tables, work with images, edit code, create pop-ups and much more. We must not lose these functions.

For this know I agree with you, as long as the Page Builder Pro team does not come up with an even better way for these formatting options. The JCE options are great but the GUI, even within the formatting and editing options, is let's say, not so optimized and always reminds me of the rather early days of desktop word processors.

Other teams developers page builders for joomla, did not abandon JCE, but, on the contrary, introduced it, along with the ability to edit text directly on the page.

Despite the old interface, a more powerful editor for joomla has not yet been invented. There is not bad editor DropEditor, but it's still very far to JCE.

But it would not be bad if Joomshaper team made integration with DropEditor. It has a number of interesting functions - for example, the ability to assign any icons for an unnumbered list, creating a multicolumn text

I agree that there are tree "kings" on the market: JCE (Pro), ARK Editor and in some aspects DropEditor. I asked for Ark integration, let's wait.

Happy to see that there has come some movement in this topic.

Let's hope we get this on page editing together with some advanced formatting options.

Paul, thanks for your engagement in this useful productivity feature. :)
