Upgrade Layout Bug

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
I'm using Joomla 3.9.20 and Wayne Corp template.

Toady I upgraded to sppb Version: 3.7.4 and now when I edit a page using the frontend editor I can see some modules appear on that page that don't belong there.

For example I edit the 'Home' page and I can see the 'Popular News' module that appears on my 'News' page on the 'right' module position.

See attached image, block in red shouldn't be there. It should only appear on the 'News' page.

I have not changed any settings, I simply downloaded the new version form here and installed it over my previous version.

No errors in the browser console.

Why is this happening?

I have checked and the module that appears in the frontend edit mode is NOT set to appear on the home page, and it does NOT appear on the home page normally. It only appears when in edit mode.

I'm unable to provide access to my website just yet but can provide screenshots.

Unfortunately I'll need a refund if it doesn't work, just purchased today.

Whenever I edit my 'News' page the sidebars will still be all over the place and the layout broken.

Is your 'News' page created by SPPB page? If yes, don't use the template's sidebar on the SPPB page. If you need a sidebar on SPPB page, create it using the page itself, not template means.

Use one, global section for the entire page in SP PB. Divide it into content section and sidebar. For example 9 + 3.
For the content part, use inner sections. For the sidebar, use the joomla module addon with the output of the module position.

Why this worked for you before, before the SPPB update, I do not know. This is not typical. Typically a template sidebar used on an SPPB page breaks the layout (in Helix based templates).

Why the Joomshaper team can't fix this for a very very long time, I don't know either. I suggest just workaround for you.

Hello johnny,
Apology for your issue. I could not figure out your issue. In my testing, I cannot find 'Popular News' or any other module. FYI, If you want to update your existing site, you should install the Wayne Corp Template.

- Best regards

The Popular News module isn't part of Wayne Corp, it's part of EasyBlog. Everything was working perfectly fine until I upgraded. Please see the attached image in my original post. The modules are appearing on the home page when I use front end edit.

These modules that are randomly appearing are in the wayne corp 'right' position, but they are ONLY set to display on my 'News' page, i've double checked. I'm using Advanced Module Manager to ensure the modules only appear on selected pages, and the Home page isn't one of them.

When I unpublish the modules in the 'right' position, the front end editor works fine.

I have tried the following;

cleared joomla cache
cleared browser cache
tried edit in incognito mode

Any idea what's going on?

Create a copy of the template style without sidebars and assign it by default. A copy of the template with sidebar assign to individual pages.

I've tried this, it removes the left and right positions. I don't want to do this. I need and use both these positions.

Also, I made a mistake I'm using the Indigo template NOT Wayne Corp. Same issue.

ok I did this, my 'News' page has sidebars, the other pages don't. This resolves the issue on the pages without sidebars. But this won't resolve the problem on my 'News' page.

Whenever I edit my 'News' page the sidebars will still be all over the place and the layout broken.

Hi Pavel,

Thank you for this very detailed answer! This will be a great solution, I understand now what you mean and I will implenent this later today.

So, do you think there is there an issue / bug with SPPB or the wayne corp template?

Will I need to revert these changes at some stage whenever the SPPB team implement a fix?

Just to clarify, before the update my 'News' page was NOT a SPPB page, it was my blog page (EasyBLog), and this page had a main component section (blogs), and a right sidebar with 'Popular News' and 'Archive' modules. Wgenever I upgraded SPPB and attempted to edit my 'Home' wage (which is a SPPB page), I could see the 'News' page modules.. very strange!

Hi.
So, do you think there is there an issue / bug with SPPB or the wayne corp template?

It is difficult to define this. While researching this issue, I came to the conclusion that fixing it might make the Helix framework less flexible. Therefore, I think that it should not be fixed, but it does require adding it to the SP PB documentation when using Helix.

Will I need to revert these changes at some stage whenever the SPPB team implement a fix?

If the Joomshaper team fixes this in the future, it will not affect your page in any way.
