URL HTTP automatically switch to HTTPS when using a secure Website

Featured Lock Resolved Bug
Hi,

When you have a secure Website (HTTPS) and add a button on your page.

If you add an address like http://google.ca

It will automatically modify the URL for https://google.ca

For every URL so majority of them are broken...

How can we fix this asap? Because majority of my external link on my new Website are broken now :s

Regards,
Mat

NB: I know on the screenshot I have not the same page but it's the same URL.

I finally found the issue... And I apologize for this.

For some reason, after I installed Akeeba Admin Tools, under the setting "SEO and Link Tools", we have an option there.

Convert all links to HTTPS when site is accessed over SSL

What a crappy setting. I have no clue why it was selected but it was. So that was the issue.

Just in case someone else have the same issue in the future.

Hi,
maybe Joomla rewrite URLs or one of installed plugins or .htaccess rules.
You are first person with this "issue".
I tested on 2 sites so far, and button addon use HTTP If I want to.
I used Helix3 + SPPB 3.1.

To be honest I don't believe it's problem of our software.
I checked code, SPPB do not modify links added by users, they are 1:1.

Never use absolute links for internal site links. Use only relative links.

Hi, the link is not an internal one. The problems is only with external URL.

As you can see in my screenshot.

1st is the administration visuel, 2nd is the link people get.

Something is wrong. It happen on every link I create.

If I deactivate the SSL, all the link are working but this is not an option. Every Website in 2018 need to be SSL :)

Mathieu

I'm using: shaper_melvin 1.0 and SP Page Builder Pro Version: 3.1

The problem is that I cannot reproduce this issue on two of demo sites.
I enabled/disabled SSL in Global Configuration, always external links have this same value.

To be honest I don't know where is source of your issue.

no extra seo plugins / settings ?

I just create a regular article without SP Page Builder...

Same issue.

I remove Tiny MCE and only use Code Mirror... Same issue..

I change the template for Beez... omg, same issue...

You are right, looks like it's something with Joomla 3.8.4

Well, I assume because I install the package of shaper_melvin without alteration except for the SSL.

Thank you for your help, I will take a look over there.

Regards,
Mathieu

Ask on official Joomla forum, maybe you are not first victim of joomla bug.

thanks, good to know.
That's why I always ask to check all components/plugins which have SEO/SSL features.
