Will the 'Error Page' be improved at all?

Featured Lock Resolved Issue
Hi There,

I'm having a little struggle with formatting the 'Error Page' a little better https://www.isknow.how/about-usss where I've got the background image that I wish to use, that is linked to what our site is and does but it seems that there is a slight lack of customising options available, beyond the logo and background image.

For e.g. I have tried to use the following to NOT display the Error Code part, as it's part of my image already;

html.error-page .error-code {
display: none;
}

However, whilst it works just fine in Chrome / Firefox's console to test, when I insert it into my HU custom css file, clear all server, site and browser caches, it still remains.

Once I have the above solved, I then need to move the logo further above and to the far right vertically inline with the orange '404 error' part of my bg image.

Then the same with the 'page not found' and 'homepage' button, to the right vertically inline but below the orange '404 error'.

However, I'd just be glad to get the first issue outlined above sorted - am i missing something in my custom css markup above?

Regards,

Hi,
maybe the best way would be to edit file:
templates\shaper_helixultimate\error.php

Code customization is on your hands only. Support Policy.

You are correct, in that yes I could amend the such file - as I had already considered but then, why should I / we the users have to hack a file that will get overwritten with the next and all subsequent updates, for what should be a very simple css addition?

How can i disable this entirely in Helix Ultimate please, it's of no use to me and I've found that my site's RSSEO has it's own multiple error page customisation element within it, that I'd prefer to use?

If you do not like Helix Ultimate, just stop using it, install different template, and then uninstall Helix. Nobody force you to use it., you do not live in North Korea. :p

RS team have their own templates. Pay & enjoy.

Either you have a serious issue (I've encountered this with you several times to date and seen the same attitude with other 'clients') with language barriers and you struggle to picture what one person can truly mean in their posts, as opposed to how you read it on a digital screen; or you have a serious attitude issue.

I'm 'very nearly' incredibly happy with Helix Ultimate, bearing in mind that I'm also financially invested into SP Pagebuilder Pro 3, so no I won't be leaving but just because I don't live in N.Korea (what an analogy to use in business) I still believe that my last query above deserves a professional response.

One with which can enable me to carry on 99.9% enjoying my new Helix Ultimate experience... the .1% being that nothing is ever perfect and there is always room for improvement in everything, whether free or paid!

P.S. It's not exactly my fault that the error page feature cannot be disabled, for e.g. like the coming soon, or that the error pages don't seem to want to be easily enough have the css / layout tweaked.

In future we consider Helix Ultimate (Pro) with more customization feature, but right now please excuse us, but it's still young version 1.0.3.
And Helix3 version is 2.5.5.

Sorry but this week was very hard for me, I was alone on support.
So maybe talk about your thoughts next week with someone else. If you do not feel my sense of humor

Anyway... thanks. This topic is closed for me.

p.s.
We cannot buy all SEO components for test purposes.

So, apart from leaving as you first suggested, and until further customisation enhancements are made to HU - what other workaround is there to disable the HU 'Error Page' side of things?

This would then mean that I can get working but fully customised Error Pages via the SEO component I want to use for this aspect.

I have seen there are SEO components which allows you to choose page used for Error page.
Just search & read features of extensions listed on JED. It this may help you somehow.

Paul,

I ALREADY have such an SEO component that allows this but can't use it at present and until I can find a Joomshaper "workaround to disable the HU 'Error Page' side of things" which is why I was asking for knowledge of any such workaround, there has to be something surely?

Can you put this to the HU dev's please.

Is there a solution for switching off the HU Error page.Or a work around? I read the above conversation and I have the same problem I want to use the error option from a SEO component I am using. I am happy with HU but want to offer a good 404 page to site vistors. And in the shaper template that worked fine. But not in HU.

Have you tried to delete error.php file from template folder, than default should be used.
Then maybe your SEO component could be able to override it somehow.

Thanks for your reply. but that is nog an option. The standard Joomla is shown, and that is no good. I find it very strange that it doesn't work as it did in the shaper template. A personlised 404 page with text and directions en links is very important for any site.

In Helix you can publish custom module on error page , use "error" module position

-- whole rest, sorry, I also wait for update, improvements

Thanks for your efforts. The "error " as module position does not exist. There is a 404 module position in HU and I already tried to place an module in that postion but without effect.

The good news (for me is) that I got things working with the SEO component. Still it would be nice to be able to edit the 404 options in HU for not every site is using an SEO component.

We just wait for updates.

Any update on this quite critical pin of any website i.e. the ability to create a good error page?

Maybe that's why some users use sh404sef which also manage error page.

I've stated above that I use an SEO extension (RSSEO) and it has it's own Error pages feature but as Helix Ultimate forces the rather crap options Error page, it makes no difference.

I also will not pay more money to move to another one (sh404sef) when my SEO extension can do it ONCE HU ceases to force a hardly customised error page ability.

I understand, hopefully, you don't have to pay for Helix so far.

We will try to improve the error page in the next update.
I miss that feature as well.

Hi Robert,
I use RSSEO as well and it works well in Helix Ultimate. In the option of RSSEO you have to check that the Use customized error page is set to Yes.

But link used to homepage is fully correct

<a href="/index.php" class="btn btn-secondary">
<span class="fa fa-home" aria-hidden="true"></span> Startsidan</a>

somehow, maybe extra htaccess rule or plugin make the wrong redirection.

You can add a static link to domain name inside error.php file, if this may help.
