Every day, every week brings us closer to release of stable Joomla 3.5. As we know now, officially planned release date is a December 1st. In mean time the Joomla Security Strike Team (JSST) has been informed of a critical security issue in the Joomla core.
Security First
A Joomla 3.4.5 release containing a security fix will be published on Thursday 22nd October. This will be a high priority security release for previous version of Joomla 3.4 series and we strongly encourage you to update your sites immediately. But it's good to notice that found security issue affects certain on all Joomla! 3 versions. If you're still using old version of Joomla 3.x you have to know that hundreds of bugs and tens of security issues have been fixed in the meantime. So yes, it's right time to change and improve your CMS also. Joomla 3.4.5 is available from official Joomla download section.
Before update
We suggest you to get ready by taking the following actions before current update:
- Make a full backup of your site (database and files, youi can use Akeeba Backup for this task).
- Make sure you know how to restore the backup.
- Update Joomla to the latest available version (3.4.4).
- Update all extensions to their latest version.
Joomla 3.5 - what new will come
One of incoming feature of new Joomla 3.5 will be a Drag-and-Drop image adding to TinyMCE editor area. You can drag-and-drop an image from any folder on your computer directly to the content area.

This new image will appear automatically and will be uploaded into root image folder. This is a standard feature in alternative editors or in other blogging platforms these days.
Other changes, probably:
- Improved Media Manager
- Removed com_messages component from the Joomla core
- Email notifications about new Joomla Updates.
