error 1615: Prepared statement needs to be re-prepared (decora template)

Hi,

I updated website at Decora template to Joomla 5.4.6 and SP Page Builder 6.6.0 and the whole site crashed with this image and error 1615: Prepared statement needs to be re-prepared

When I enabled debug and shared it with chatgpt, it told me the problem was in collecting hits for pages and suggested to comment out this line $model->hit(); in components/com_sppagebuilder/controller.php (which did the trick and web works again).

I don't know if it's template specific or for all updates, because it only happened to me on 2 sites so far, but can you please look at it?

Hello,

Thank you for reporting this issue and for sharing the workaround.

We tested it and confirmed that changing the database driver from MySQLi to MySQL (PDO) in:

Global Configuration → Server → Database → Database Type resolves the “1615: Prepared statement needs to be re-prepared” error.

Hi Rashida,

I just noticed that I can't use PDO on sites with Virtuemart... so I'll need to use my workaround on eshops.
