Error message: 1615 – Prepared statement needs to be re-prepared

Asked by Marco 3 months ago Last activity 3 months ago

Hello,
Yesterday I upgraded my Joomla website to version 6.1.1; SP Page Builder was already at version 6.6.2.

Additional information:
PHP version 8.4.17
Database version 8.0.28-19

It wasn’t until today that I saw the error message in the frontend—the backend is working fine.
Of course, the question is: why did I only see the error message today and not yesterday?
Logging is enabled in Joomla; administrator/logs/everythink.php shows a problem

/components/com_sppagebuilder/models/page.php

I commented out this line:
// $table->hit($pk);

It’s working again!

What’s going on here?

Regards - Marco

Hello,

The problem was resolved when I contacted Joomshaper—the error message no longer appeared.
“Resolved” isn't quite the right term; as I explained in the forum, I simply commented out a line of code—which, however, allowed me to get the page online.

May I ask what you were looking for in the backend?

Regards - Marco

I have changed your below settings
In Global Configuration > Server > Database > Database Type : MySQL (PDO)

Hello,

Could you please tell me why you switched the database connection from MySQLi to MySQL (PDO)?

Could I please get more information about changing the database connection? Thanks!

The issue is related to how the MySQL server handles prepared statements with the MySQLi database driver. In some server environments, this can trigger the "1615 – Prepared statement needs to be re-prepared" error.

Switching the database driver to MySQLi (PDO) uses a different database interface that avoids this server-side issue while maintaining the same functionality. This is a safe change and does not affect your website's data or features.
