Meta Description Should Be Less Than 160 Characters

Hi all, Since I upgraded to 5.5.2, I receive the message: "Meta description should be less than 160 characters" whenever I try to save a modified page. To save the page, I have to shorten the meta description; otherwise, it's not possible to save the page.

Is there a way to avoid shortening the meta description?

Hi Bjon,

right now without code customization, not really.

We can consider to increase to 200 or 300 characters as you have in Joomla Menu items settings if somehow it's a big problem for you. Probably becuase in German language words are longer.

But as you can read in many guides (and SEO Testers)

Meta descriptions can technically be any length, but Google generally truncates snippets to ~155-160 characters. It's best to keep meta descriptions long enough that they're sufficiently descriptive, so we recommend descriptions between 50 and 160 characters
