HI , I got a messgae early this morning when i clicked on an article on our news website, "Internal Server Error

it turned out to be an issue this the a missing .htaccess file, buy i know i added a one for the gazette template and it was working fine till this morning . now a standard joomla .htaccess file is in there and it appears to be working fine.. BUT , i feel like i was told to add stuff to the file? or use a differnent file? when i set up the templete -- can. you advice, do i need to add anything to the standard joomla htaccess file for the gazette template?

in general .htaccess file is topic for forum.joomla.org, becuase it's part of Joomla core.
No, default file should work fine. But on some hostings (weak ones), you have to delete a few lines that are marked in .htaccess file. Example
