Using A Finion-style Two-row Header In The Nexio Template

Hello,

I am currently using the Nexio template with Helix Ultimate 2.2.9.

Because my website contains several main menu items, I would like to use a two-row header layout so that the navigation has enough horizontal space.

My preferred desktop layout would be:

First row: EQUA logo, telephone number, email address, login button and search function Second row: the complete main navigation menu across the available width

This is similar to one of the predefined header layouts in the Finion template. The current “Fullwidth Left” header in Nexio places the logo and navigation on the same row, leaving insufficient space for all menu items.

Is it possible to import or copy the predefined Finion header into Nexio?

If this is not possible, should I recreate the complete header using the Helix Ultimate Custom Header and Layout Builder? Can this layout be made responsive so that it automatically switches to the mobile logo, off-canvas menu and mobile search on smaller screens?

I would also like to know which method is safest for future Helix Ultimate and Nexio updates.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us. You can achieve this, but I wouldn’t recommend copying the Finion header files directly into Nexio. Nexio uses its own template styling and the Minimal predefined header, so copying another template’s header may cause styling or update issues.

The safer approach is to disable Predefined Header and recreate the two-row header using Helix Ultimate → Layout Builder. Helix supports custom header rows, columns, module positions, and responsive breakpoint settings.

For example:

Row 1: Logo | Phone/Email | Login | Search Row 2: Main Menu (full width)

For mobile/tablet, you can hide the desktop elements as needed and use Helix’s Off-canvas menu. The off-canvas settings also support the logo, search, login and contact information.

So I would recommend the Custom Header/Layout Builder method rather than copying Finion files. It keeps the customization within Helix/Nexio and should be much safer for future updates.

-Regards.
