Does helix 3 vulnerability affect templates on helix 2?

Asked by Petra 3 months ago Last activity 2 months ago

Hi,

since I'm reading about the security issue that was reported and fixed for Helix 3.1.1 I need to ask, since I'm using JoomShaper templates built on Helix 2, is there anything I need to do as well? Is the problem affecting older versions too or just Helix 3?

Thank you!

Petra

Hi Petra,

Probably not, but we don't support such a old templates.

We support only Helix3 and Helix Ultimate 2.x, and Joomla 4, 5 and 6.x

Hi Petra,

Could you please clarify what you mean by Helix 2? Do you mean Helix Ultimate 2.x, or are you referring to the older Helix II framework (which was discontinued a long time ago)?

This update is only for the Helix3 framework, not for the Helix Ultimate framework.

Although both frameworks are developed by us, they are separate frameworks with different structures and update paths. This update does not apply to Helix Ultimate.

We also do not recommend using both frameworks on the same website, as it may cause compatibility issues.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Hi Rashida & Paul,

yes, that will be it. Sorry for the confusion, I did not know that these two are different things.

Hi Petra,

I haven’t heard back from you regarding this issue. Could you please confirm if everything is working fine now?

Unfortunately, there are many hacked Helix3 Sites out there.

I have built a security extension that can detect and clean them with a single click.
It also includes a live WAF feed for protection, a malware scanner, and automatic extension updates.

Hi @Pascal - HTProtect.org,

Thank you for sharing this with us.

We appreciate your efforts in helping Joomla users improve their site security.

As a general recommendation, we encourage users to keep Joomla, Helix3, and all third-party extensions up to date, review their sites for signs of compromise, and follow security best practices. We cannot verify or officially recommend third-party security solutions, but users are welcome to evaluate the tools that best fit their requirements.

Thank you again for your feedback.
