To show lastest healthy recipes or just artciles about local food we used K2 Content module, published on "latest-review" module position, which uses K2 items as a source of content. All you have to do is add "latest-review" module class suffix and choose right K2 category to show. Using multiple copies of this same module (with varying settings) you can achieve complex news publishing/magazine site layouts.
