Sorry, this feature does not exist. But you can apply a trick. Use text block on a page and then save the addon. Then you can easily find it from your saved addon options. Please follow this documentation. It will look like this:

Thanks for the tip. I've used that already but it doesn't really group add-ons. Being able to make add-ons 'favorite' would be one way to go. The simple reason is that my client, and I assume most users, will not use 50% of the available add-ons on a daily basis. And they will use only a few (5) always. Being able to put, for instance, the text block, headline, icon and image in a group at the top would be REALLY nice.

Is there a data file I can change to re-arrange the way the add-on list is displayed?

I use saved add-ons but there is a feature missing. If I put my-saved-add-on on several pages, then edit the original my-saved-add-on, this does not change the others.

I think the only way to do this is to create a module using SP-Builder. Is that correct? If I update content of a module, will that update be seen everywhere the module is visible. (For instance, a footer module)

Yes, you got it right. If you want to change in one place and update everywhere, then use the module. As I said Favorite addons feature is not available. But developers might consider it for the future.
