Warning/error - You are Not Permitted To Edit This Page Because One More User is Already Checkid-in

Hi, i develop a page in a module. The module permission is set to 'Special'. When i try to edit the page with the frontend editor a warning/error 'You are not permitted to edit this page because one more user is already checkid-in' is shown.

Don't know what to do to get rid of this message.

I installed SPPB version 3.8.2 Joomla version: 3.10.3

Hi there!

Thanks for your query.

Do you have set frontend editing permission to that 'special' user group?

Can I have a screencast video showing the issue, please? Did you mean a module or a SP page builder page?

Here is all about ACL if it helps!

https://www.joomshaper.com/blog/complete-guide-to-joomla-role-based-user-access

And if you have a lock icon beside the page name in the page list then clicking on the icon will let it marked as checked out, so it will be available for you to check in again.

Best Regards

Hai Rashida,

thanks for the quick response!

Editing was working very well until i was logged in with no admin rights on the frontend. that's the first step to do - login to the frontend. Second step is SPPB frontend edit.

Pressing de Checked out button on the frontend has unfortunately no effect.

The Page is build in a module.

The problem is the value in field 'checked-out' in the table ...sppagebuilder. It seems that the value will be not cleared if the logged in person doesn't have the right permission. I modified the table with the right userid and everything works fine again.

Yes, as I thought before, it's all about the permission settings. I have requested you to check, 'if you have set frontend editing permission to that 'special' user group' in my first reply.

Glad that your issue has been solved already:)

Hi. This doesn't actually solve the problem. It's not user based permissions, as I am a super user, but am getting the same message. I try to edit certain (not all) pages from the front end and get the messages "Checked Out" and "Warning You are not permitted to edit this page because one more user is already checkid-in." I do not have the ability to "hack the database" as Alphons has done, and I shouldn't need to. I need to know how to fix this. Incidentally, I can still edit the page via Joomla/Content/Articles, but that is awkward and time consuming. Mike

Hello,

Sorry for the unwanted delay!

It is an Joomla core feature.

And the following blog may help you with this:

If you are still facing issues please let me know.

Best Regards

Hi Rashida Thanks, but I think that shows up a worrying problem! The first half of the article doesn't work when using front end SP Page Builder editing, as there is no padlock shown in Joomla Content>Articles. The article remains fully editable/saveable there, Joomla does not recognise it as being locked/checked out at all if open for editing in SPPB. This obviously means two people can edit the same article simultaneously (one in SPPB and one in Content>Articles), which should not be possible. I assume the last one to save overwrites everything the other person has done? The second half (Global Check-in) does display the number of articles locked to SPPB, but it's very crude. You cannot check in a single article, you can only check in all locked SPPB articles, or none at all. That worked for me this time, but won't be a realistic option when the website goes live. Regards Mike

Hi Mike,

You are always welcome.

I guess it's a slightly different issue this time. Would you please open a separate forum post about it with issue details? A screencast showing the whole issue would be better.

Best Regards

Thanks Rashida.

I've now opened a new question "Two People Can Edit The Same Article Simultaneously" in the SP Page Builder section.

Regards Mike.

just go to "global unlock", unlock the sp Page Builder tables and then clear the cache and go back to working normally
