Menu Display Odd And Unusable When Rhino Template Applied

Have applied the Rhino template to a Joomla version 4 site where Cassiopeia is currently the applied template. After installing template from rhino_template_2.0.0.zip file, changed Main Menu module to use 'offcanvas' position of shaper_rhino template and set the shaper_rhino template as the default template.
The main menu appears but there are several oddities I'm struggling to resolve:
- Off Canvas menu - initially appears as three-dot button only, then when expanded the off canvas menu shows all sub-items already expanded, and the menu items repeat excessively into a long display with excess bullet icons as well. Something I'm probably missing regarding configuring off-canvas menu (?)
- There is a stray "?>" pair of characters appearing on the home page that seem to be erroneously coming from the template.
- If a sub-menu only has hidden items, it is shown as expandable and expanded menu is empty (example on site is Data Archive -> Measurement Wizard ->

Accepted AnswerI did try switching to PHP v7.4, and the off-canvas menu no longer appears as a three-dot menu, but still has issues of all sub-menus open, and repeats the menus execessively.
Intend to use PHP v8.x. I think I'll "abandon" the Rhino template and experiment with templates that are Joomla 4 ready and use Helix Ultimate.
Question: Will templates that are transitioned to Joomla v4 and use Helix Ultimate be compatible with PHP v8.x ?
