I want a large image similar to this https://www.christinemackie.com with text over it on the home page of https://www.jamesmackie.art. How can I achieve this with the Themis template and page builder?

You can made this with textblock and heading addon and you can set a background image for your section that includes your texts. Simply this can be the way to do this.
You can adjust margin/padding values of your section to get the look starting from top.
