I have Wayne Corporate template and need to add news to it. In the example the news items show on the frontpage. I believe it was something about aadding category view, but cannot recall it exactly.

Please have a look at the documentation. I think you are looking for News Around Business section. This is an Article Slider addon which loads Joomla Article as slider of the chosen category.
