Text Color Always Defaults To Solid Black

Friends! This is happening in one unique circumtance.

I copied a row that incorporated a background pic and text overlay into a different web page (same site).

The text color (be it white, red, partial opacity) displays perfectly in editing mode. But the preview (or just browsing) renders all text (or headings) as 100% black.

Furthermore, this affects all text on the target web page, not just the portion that was copied and pasted, but all text (or headings) on that web page that had previously functioned correctly. In addition, if I create and construct a new row (ie. from scratch, not by copying and pasting), this text color issue persists in the new section.

Text font and size render correctly. Just the text color for every bit of text on the page now defaults to solid black.

Help! It's not a browser issue BTW – same issue regardless of browser

www.comprotec.com (see the home page - a lot of the text should be white (on black/colored/dark backgrounds, but is rendering black)

Interesting but I do not think it will change automatically. Next time you find this type of issue, check that if you have any raw HTML addon or Text Block addon. Then check for any HTML code blocks. If you find <font> tag there, then replace it with <span> or any other relevant tags.

Hi Mehtaz!

Go to www.comprotec.com , scroll to the very bottom, and you'll find two images side by side. The one on the left is from the "Front End Editor", the one on the right is what people will actually get (and which is rendered in the Preview)

These pics are actually captures from this same page. Much of the text on that page is supposed to be rendered in white (or red in one case), but all renderes in black.

In case they didn't come through, I'm repeating the log-on details for www.comprotec.com/administrator

I've done more testing on this....on a fresh page with virgin content. Copying any row from any web page, and pasting it into this fresh page immediately kills all text color CCS. The text font & size is formatted via HTML, so that's unaffected. Were it CSS formatting, I'm assuming it would be.

So....copying and pasting into a web page permanently severs the the link to the text CSS for that page. And yet all other CSS formating is preserved – just the text.

Mehtaz!

  1. The application to which you referred me to merely takes screen shots (and enables uploading to social media). I can already do that, but this forum has no mechanism (that I can see) that faciliates uploads. I see from the forum history here that this capability was promised a year ago. Still not there.
  2. I've already referred you to the web site, www.comprotec.com , but perhaps didn't make it clear that it's the home page you want to look at. I've given you the log-on credentials for Admin access. The page is not complicated - virtually any text that was supposed to be rendered in white, grey, or colour (which you can see in the Front End Editing view) is rendered in solid 100% black when browsing (which you can see in a preview view.)
  3. Just to make it clear, at the very bottom of that home page for www.comprotec.com I put up two side by side pictures taken from further up the page that illustrate the problem.
  4. I'm not asking you to just patch up this page with a custom CSS for these sections, but to to give me a fix that I can apply in future. There's something about copying and pasting even just one row that severs the link with the CSS for text for every row on the whole page, and does so permanently for that page. In other words, even if I delete the row that poisoned the page, the other rows won't restore to normal function.

Mehtaz - I apologize, and stand corrected – I see that Lightshot do have provision for uploading. But it requires signing up for an account. Never mind that's it's free, I won't sign up for yet another service wanting to collect my email and usage stats. If you want screenshots, Joomshaper should furnish the facility to upload them.

In any case, I've given you ample resources, and at the bottom of the home page on www.comprotec.com, I've created a section titled "Welcome Joomshaper Technical" which has a labelled side by side image capture (taken from further up on the same page) to view the issue.

Hello SonicShock

Apology for the delay. In your homepage, you have taken a raw HTML addon. There you have used font HTML tag which created the issue. I have modified your raw HTML addon code. Your homepage is okay now. Please check and let me know if you need further help.

Best regards

Thank you Ofi!! You nailed it perfectly.

But may I ask, what did you do? One fix for the whole page, or fix for each row of the page?

Could I impose upon you if possible to give me some insight as to why this is happening (in case I'm doing something wrong)?

There is no problem at all if I format a section from scratch using HTML. The problem only arises when I copy a row from one web page, which I'll call Page A, and copy it into another web page (of the same site) which I'll call Page B. When the row is copied into Page B, not only does the text color of that row all default to solid black, so does every row on Page B.

You are welcome. In your raw HTML code, you have used <font> HTML tag which is applied to every text below it. I have replaced it with <span> HTML tag which seems to be working fine. This solves all rows text color below the addon.

Ofi, thank you for that. Re changing <font> tags to <span>, would it be possible for you to briefly describe the mechancial steps you took to edit this change? (I can't figure how to get into the HTML code from the Joomla/SP Pagebuilder interface.) Did you have to change all the tags for each affected element, or were you able to hit a master switch of some sort?

I myself didn't change the tags from <span> to <font>. They were originally <span> tags - set up the by the text/heading formatting box in SPB. Something in using SPB to copy a row from one page in a web site into a different page on the same website somehow corrupted every text or heading <span> tag on that page, turning them into <font> tags.

NOW...I have to admit, whereas I was previously able to consistently reproduce the issue, now I can't. But I bet in time it'll happen again, and I'll have to fix it again.

Thanks Ofi. Trust me, it did do it automatically. Twice. It's a fresh, pure Joomla site with no other template/extension other than Helix and SPB. If I can reproduce it again, then it's a code bug in SPB.

Thank you for your help.
