SPPB4 - Feature Request - Optimize Article Integration

Hello Joomshapers,

we've been using PageBuilder 4 on a lot of websites for our clients lately and we are quite happy with the new frontend editor. We usually have a lot of news articles on our pages, and we usally use them with the PageBuilder Integration to offer modular news pages.

However, the Article Integration seems not 100% smoothly integrated and needs a lot of knowlege of the system. So we would like to suggest some optimizations regarding the Article Integration.

Issue 1. In PageBuilder 3 the Plain Text Content of the PageBuilder-Page has been written into the "Article Introtext". This is no longer happening in SPPB4 but would be very important when using the Standard Joomla "Blog"-Layout that uses "Introtext" in the Blog View.

Issue 2. The handling of switching between Backend- and Frontend-Editing for individual Articles is quite jarring. Create Article in Backend -> Switch to PageBuilder -> Jump to Frontend -> Edit Article -> Save -> Now what? "Back to Backend" returns to Admin Start Page, "Close" returns to PageBuilder Frontend Dashboard (Where i cannot find the individual Articles). Any further Changes on Article parameters in not possible. Tow ideas how it might work:

  • Option 1: Fully integrate Article-Options into PageBuilder: The Frontend-Editor might have to include all relevant Article Settings (Category, Publishing, Intro-Image, Full-Image, Access-Level, ...). This reduces switching between different views in Front- and Backend. As soon as something like this is available, a "Frontend-Only" Edit for Articles is possible in a very user-friendly way ("Add New Article" in Frontend => Set ALL Options in PageBuilder => Save and Done). You are already doeing something simelar in HELIX Template with the Menu Builder, so this might be an option? Mockup:

  • Option 2: If Option 1 is too complicated, at least set the correct Link in the "Back to Admin"-Button. When editing an Article Integration, the Button has to link back to the Edit-View of the article from which the user came in the first place.
