After Clicking On A Link With A Hidden Menu Item Pointing To A Restricted Page Show The Profile Page And Not The Specified Page In The Menu Item

SP Page Builder 2 years ago

We have a button that has a hyperlink button to a hidden menu-item. The menu item goes to a restricted sp page builder page. When I click on the button the login forms pops-up. After entering my credentials the profile page is shown and not the specified page in the menu-item.

I can not reproduce this problem on my own computer. Some members of our association have reported this problem.

What to do to solve this issue?

I have installed the Quick User Redirect plugin and now the profile page doesn't show up anymore. https://extensions.joomla.org/extension/quick-user-redirect/

Thanks for your help!

Hi there,

I appreciate you reaching out. I sincerely apologize for this oversight. Will you please provide me the Joomla administrator access to check the issue? I will check & get back to you soon.

Note: Share a screencast video about the full scenario.

The problem is that some members get the user profile page instead of the kernbestuur page. As I said I cannot reproduce the problem and so can't you.

The link to the video that I have recorded is in the hidden content. This is the good scenario. Unfortunatly I cannot record the bad scenario.

After login it should redirect user profile page. Cause, you didn't select the redirect url inside your login menu and module. Thanks

Did you verify this? I have 'Home' specified as the redirect url. See screencast: https://www.phonsenjose.nl/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Menus_-Items-Helix2-Ageevee-Beheer-Google-Chrome-2023-09-08-13-29-32.mp4

I have set redirect this page.

https://ageevee.nl/index.php/kernbestuur

Note: You can set only one page of redirect.

When users login now they go to the kernbestuur page instead of the hompage. That is not what we want and is the wrong navigation. What is the difference between a redirect to home and to kernbestuur?

As I said before on my computer the problem doesn't occur. I cannot reproduce it. Yesterday another member reported the same problem with the another button. Navigation path: Locaties -> Tilburg -> Locatiebestuur

This scenario goes also fine with my browser. I have asked the member to make a screencast. However, he has restarted his PC and now the profile page doesn't show up anymore??????

Is it possible to disable the profile page. We don't want that users can change theire accountname and password, so we don't need the profile page.

I really do not understand. Now the button is not working! This problem occurs unpredictably with several buttons - hidden menu links. What to do to solve this problem?

If you remove the links then button shouldn't work.

The button should work! So what to do next to solve this problem? Removing the link is not acceptable for us. That is removing functionality.

Is it possible to disable the profile page

It's question to Joomla Developer Team, not us. We don't develop Joomla Core features and redirect is one of them. It does not matter what component you are making a redirection to, the principle (and code) is the same. Buttons addons just use basic HTML link code, nothing more. Whole rest is managed by Joomla itself. Tip: I suggest to in: User Manager > Options > Frontend User Parameters: Off

On our forum focus on Joomshaper products questions only, whole rest forum.joomla.org - no offence.

On your place I would consider using a extra installed - advanced Redirect component/plugin - I knew few for Joomla 3 - but as I saw there are updates for Joomla 4 too.

In the past, I used:
