Helix Ultimate Template Copy - How To Update It?

Template 1 month ago

Our client has purchased the Helix Ultimate. They made a copy from it (using Joomla's built-in copy template process) and use that copy for the default template. The Helix Ultimate template has been updated to versin 2.0.18. But there does not appear to be a way to update the copy. I have read through the documentation but can not find anything that addresses this situation.

Hi Donald,

Our client has purchased the Helix Ultimate.

This is totally free template. Everyone can download it without paying. So I guess, we talk about premium template based on Helix.

If we talk about technical details. In general this template consists of two parts, template files itself and Helix Ultimate plugin files. If in Joomla you make template copy - it's still the same template files. The only difference is a separate table in the database. You can see it for all Joomla templates.

It means that when you update template or plugin itself, it will be updated also for template copy.

Manual update is required only if you changed the template name by editing the template files (.xml, .php and folder name etc).

It does appear that the template was renamed. What is the process to perform a manual update?

If template folder was renamed, probably there was a reason beyond that. For example code customization, component view. But if you don't have information about that you may destroy/remove those changes. It request deeper investigation.

General rule is simple:

  1. download helixultimate_template_v2.0.18.zip

  2. unzip zip file.

  3. Make website backup (files!)

  4. Then "all" files and folders from folder "template" (1) upload to your template folder templates\THEME-NAME (override)

  5. Clear Joomla cache

  6. Have hope. And check few subpages.
