Hi, in the Google Search Console we receive this error due to Cumulative Layout Shift. Is it a template problem or did I build the pages badly? Has anyone had a similar experience with Helix Ultimate?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry Ofi, I can't start a discussion on Facebook. My question is this: is this a known issue with this template? Thank you.

This issue is not a common one. I have heard it first time. However, we do not work on SEO issues. Maybe users do not post about them and we do not know.

I have read it. I do not think it is a template issue.

You may not think the Ofi template is the problem, but in reality that appears to be the problem (combined with Sp Page Builder and how it manages resources).

Your joomshaper.com site also has the same problems that our site built with Sp Page Builder with Helix Ultimate template has.

You can easily do a test with pagespeed insight at the link https://pagespeed.web.dev/.

By entering the link https://www.joomshaper.com/ and clicking on "analyze" you will realize that it does not pass the Core Web Vitals tests.

Does not exceed Largest Contentful Paint (LCP); does not pass Interaction to Next Paint (INP); does not exceed First Contentful Paint (FCP); does not exceed the Time to First Byte (TTFB). On mobile you get a score of 34 (with 100 being the maximum).

It seems strange to me that you are not aware of these problems.

And an SEO specialist has nothing to do with all this.

It's about reducing unused JavaScript code; reduce unused CSS content; reduce JavaScript execution time and much more.

Do you have any suggestions for inexperienced people like me who rely on a page builder?

Thank you for your understanding Ofi.

I have talked with the team. It seems like Helix Ultimate lacks the CLS feature. I have added it to the development team feature request board. It will be reviewed and improved in the future.

Thank you for your commitment Ofi.

However, I want to underline that in this forum I have seen users called out several times by you just for not being expert programmers or knowledgeable of html and php.

Discovering that your most downloaded (and constantly updated) template is a disaster for search engines gives me pause.

The very banal PageSpeed Insight is enough to obtain the list of errors and the very poor score that Helix Ultimate gets.

Exactly what kind of experts would you and your developers be if the product you offer is rated so poor by search engines?

Don't take it personally, so that you are a good person, kind and patient.

What I'm not okay with is paying for a product that doesn't work as it should in its most essential functions.

Now what should we do? Do we have to pay someone to review the code and have an effective site?

It's not just a CLS issue, the problems are everywhere, in FCP, TTFB, CSS content, Java and so on.

Get Helix Utimate, go to PageSpeed Insight and do an analysis, you'll see how beautiful it is.

I repeat, don't take it personally, but consider that we pay to have solutions, not problems.

Thanks for understanding.

Thanks for your patience and constructive comment. There are no personal issues. We are working together to make the product better.

I have addressed the issues and raised it as high priority for Helix Ultimate. The development team will work on adding these features. Hopefully, we will fix these things very soon.

Joomshaper may not but here is a couple of tips from me...

It's all about small economies makes for large results...

OBVIOUSLY, all of your images should be optimized (not to be confused with compressed), and using the RIGHT image format will make for serious economies - I see way too many people using .PNG when they should be using .JPG (optimized).

Another, often missed opportunity, don't load FontAwesome unless you have to (and if you must use FontAwesome if you are using Joomla 5.x which you should be - it loads FontAwesome 6.5.1 already so don't also load SP PageBuilder's FontAwesome...) but once you have 1 copy of FontAwesome best to use a solution like FontLab and ONLY have those characters you need - FontAwesome comes with hundreds or thousands of icons and typically you end up using like 20 or so on a website... I typically have a FontAwesome file which is < 3kb vs the typical 80-120kb+ version that comes with the template...

Also, don't load more fonts than you need - and aim for more compact fonts if you can - AND either way use FontLab to reduce your fontfile - you can save easily 2x - 20x of space depending on the font.

This in turn removes ressources that you have to load - saving both load and files that you have to download will help all of those stats you are worried about.

Same thing with using Google Fonts, if you want to be GDPR, you can't anyways so download the font file, reduce its size and then load it on your own site.

Fewer external connections, fewer ressources to download and smaller download size ===> all makes for a faster happier site.

Cheers,

E.

Thanks Eleonora, these are great general tips, however they are not the solution to the set of problems that are specified in PageSpeed Insight.

I also did a test with the virgin Helix Ultimate template, installed without having made any changes: well, it has the same very long series of problems.

The model is offered already "messed up". Handsome. But messed up.

And most users who choose a template and page builder pay for effective solutions.

If the model needs dozens of improvements and optimizations from the webmaster right away, in my opinion, it's not good.

That's all.
