SPPB 5 - Google Maps Add-On Acts Strangely

Dear SP Page Builder Team

I have a SPPB site module placed on a [footer1] position for all pages (Helix Ultimate). It displays the Google Maps Add-On perfectly on the Home Page. However, when I open another page (Privacy Policy), the Google Maps malfunctions.

  • Have you had this problem before?
  • Can you cast any light on this case?

Regards,

Francois

It is not resolved, but I have better things to do right now.

On your note about the template - I hardly ever change a template per page. I set up one template (Helix Ultimate) and use it right through the web page.

I had the same issue. I ended up not using a module. I just put it in a regular section and submitted my findings but didnt get an answer even though admin answered 2 times. Must be coding error.

My question is found under search: glitches

Dear Claudia

Thank you for confirming that it is a known issue (at least to you and me! :-) ) I tried to make a second "footer" module, changed the original to only show on the home page, and the second one to only show on the Privacy Policy page, but got the same result - the Google Maps Add-On still malfunctioned, showing the dreadful "Oops! Something went wrong!"

I can create a "Footer" section on every page, but am reluctant to do so as it will defeat the object of having this functionality on Joomla of having one footer for all pages. And besides, when this site was on SPPB 3 it worked perfectly.

Let me wait for the SPPB team to respond. Hopefully they will have a fix for it. If not, I will have to switch the footer with Google Maps off on all my webpages.

Regards,

Francois

Hi

I have now gone through all my other webpages and this error does not occur there. It simply does not make sense.

I did find this glitch... if you ever change the CSS on something and then you cant get it back to look the same, just create a new section and you will be able to get your stuff to work. It happened to me on creating a map with Google and the other map included. Once I resized my browser it broke the page. I tried to edit the CSS and it would not let me change the background except to remove it. It would not let me change color or video etc... So I had to go back and create a new section and then it let me make the CSS changes. Not sure how yours is acting up but yeah there are quite a few bugs in this system. Good luck.

** By the way, to get rid of the oops thing on the maps you may need to create a Gmail account or use your current account and go to developers.google.com - Once you are logged in to your Google account just search "Google Maps API key Javascript", then you will need to create the credentials there and get you a maps API key. Now Google has it where you may need to enter a credit card (its FREE they dont charge you) I guess to verify you wont be spamming with their API. But once you create the billing for that account you will get the API key from Google. (These steps are needed for Google Fonts, Google Recaptcha, and for Google Maps each.)

Go to your settings on SPPB and on the options area go to the bottom and enter your API keys there. Then your maps will be working if it is giving you the OOPS something went wrong error message.

If you have done all of that then yes there are glitches in the SPPB software. Remember to clear your cookies on your browser and on your Joomla Cache. If you need further clarification state it here and I will try to help. Have fun :)

Dear Claudia

Thank you for your response.

I did not change any CSS settings on the Footer site module of SPPB. And also, the Google API is correct for this domain and works perfectly. I added the section again, but the problem remained.

I have cleared Cookies, opened in incognito mode, and tried it on my phone - nothing changes.

Regards,

Francois

Ok, did you check the Main Menu to make sure that you have set the Privacy Policy page to the same template? I have gotten issues like that also. I am sure this can be fixed I just dont know enough of your setup but we can keep trying like this lol.
