Thumbnail With Bullets

Hello,

Is it possible on a single product page to have the thumbnail with the bullets to pass from one image to the other or it is mandatory to have the gallery with it?

Also, how do you put the variants in dropdown? I've seen it somewher but impossible to find it again.
