Front-end Edit Button Available Even Though Front-end Editing is Disabled.

Hello,

We are puzzled as to why the front-end edit button is avialable when we have disabled all front-end editing capabilities. This is a site in-progress, so links to the affected pages are in the hidden content. We would appreciate very much a look at this for us becaue we are stumped.

Note: yes, we can hide it with CSS, but that's not a real solution as anyone snooping the code could still find the URL in the rendered markup.

Hi there!

Sorry for your experience.

Would you please share your admin access to check the issue for you? Please keep a full site backup before giving the access.

Best Regards

Hi Rashida,

Thank you. The login credentials and all affected page URLs are in the hidden content. This site is still in progress and hasn't been released to the public yet.

DEAR, Dear, Joomshaper. I'm feeling ignored. Can we please get some eyes on the issue noted here. We are at the cusp of launching the site, and really need an appropriate solution or answer to the issue we're confronting. All details in the hidden content of post #168079.

Hi there!

Please take my apology for the unwanted delay.

I have tried to look into the issue, but facing extreme slowness issue in your backend and interface seems broken sometimes due to this. I have also tried with VPN with no luck.

Please allow me time, so that I can try again tommorrow.

Note: can I have a full akeeba backup of your site?

Best Regards

Hi Rashida,

Thank you for trying, and look forward to whatever you find out when you try again. Admittedly we are not yet using Joomla caching because several of us are actively still working on the site. Site launch is approaching, but we'd like to get this looked at before then. Much appreciate your continued effort. Look forward to your findings.

Kind regards

Hi Rashida,

No problem. I have a full backup for you. Link to the file is in the hidden content. See if you can download it. Let me know when you have the file so that I can remove it from the server.

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response.

In the global configuration of SP Page Builder, the public user group was getting the edit permissions as inherited. So it was causing the issue. I have selected them as denied and it seems solved your issue.

Please check the screenshot for better understanding:

Hi Rashida,

Any update on this for us? We've launched the site, but on production, I'm hiding the buttons with CSS. This isn't ideal. The Staging site is still alive where the issue persists until we hear from you on a potential fix. The Staging site is under a general password to view now. Those details are in the Hidden Content here. You may not need that, however, as I trust you were able to install an instantiation of the site on your end. Any difficulties with that? And are you able to reproduce the conditions?

Kind regards, FJ

Hi Rashida,

Ow wow. I never would have found that. So "Not Allowed (Inherited)" is not the same as emphatically Denied "Not Allowed" in the permissions for the "Public" group's acccess "Edit," "Edit State," and "Edit Own" for front-end editing of Page Bulider pages. I don't understand he difference, but that's ok. The main thing is it makes the difference we needed.

We thank you ever so much for finding that and updating our Staging site. I've now updated Production the same and removed the previous CSS rules we had in place to hide the buttons.

Deeply appreciative of your patience and persistence for us.

Kind regards.
