Puzzled By Popups Reappearance...

SP Page Builder 1 year ago

Website: www.comfoot.co.nz SP Pagemaker Pro latest version 5.4.1 Using browser Apple Safari 17.6 and Firefox 128.3.1esr, both latest versions

I've successfully created a popup which shows a product announcement and photo. There is a link from the text to a list of new products.

I set the popup to appear after 10 seconds, and it is hidden on selected pages. I have also set reappearance to 'after 1 day'.

The popup works fine but reappearance isn't working as expected.

What happens when I click on the text after the popup appears, I am taken to view the list of products as expected. But the popup reappears after 10 seconds again. I click on it to view products, and again the popup appears after 10 seconds. And on it goes until I click on the web site's logo and move to the home page. Then the popup stops appearing.

It's easy to see how frustrating this behaviour must be to existing and potential customers.

I welcome advice on this matter from Joomshaper support.

Yes, your observation is perfect. I have also found the same behavior. If you click on a link that takes you to another page, then the popup is not closed. So, it appears again. I have talked about it with the developer team. They will think of a solution.

Hello Bruce Paine

Apology for the inconvenience. I have checked Popup Builder on my localhost. The reappearance seems to be working. Please share your administrator access here to check the issue. Use the Hidden Content box to share the credentials. Make sure that you have a full site backup before sharing.

Best regards

Thanks for replying.

Can I please say, the way this forum times out is so, so, so very annoying! It often takes a long time to work out responses. Frustrating when under stress and dealing with multiple issues at once.

Please note, I have now upgraded to SPPB 5.4.2 and taken a full site backup. It has not fixed the problem. I still see the pop-up recurring.

I'm now sharing the admin access credentials in hidden content.

I have checked your home page. I have seen the popup once and it does not appear again. I have checked after couple of hours. So, I think it is working fine.

That is strange because I am still seeing the popup reappear as I described it earlier. I am using Apple devices only. Mac Mini M2 Pro, iPad Pro generation 6 and iPhone 11. Safari browser in all cases.

But now something seems different. On my iPhone and iPad, the popup is now appearing continuously, no matter what I do. If I select differnet menu options or article, it is keeps appearing.

In contrast, it does not appear at all when I browse the website via Safari on the Mac Mini. But that could be a timing issue as it has not been quite 24 hours since last viewing the site. That is a good sign.

Now, while typing the message, the iPad has finally stopped showing the popup. But it is still appearing on the iPhone.

I will try restarting my iPhone and see what happens. Perhaps it is a cachiing issue?

I have powered off the phone, started it again, reopened Safari and the comfoot website. I've tried refreshing pages but stil the popup keeps appearing. I've closed the tab, opened a new tab, Google searched the site, selected it. Every time the popup appears and repeats.

It's hard to believe this problem only exists on my smartphone but perhaps it is so.

The website viewed on iPad is still working normally.

I will try the MacMini in a few hours and see what happens.

The popup has appeared on Safari and Firefox via the MacMini desktop computer. Again, the popup kept repeating. That was until I discovered something new. Instead of clicking on the pop-up text links, I clicked on the X at the top right corner. After that was done, the popup stopped appearing.

At first I could not find the pop-up cancel option on my smartphone. Then I noticed the X was hidden outside the LCD viewable area. I had to drag the popup a small amount to the left to reveal the X on the right side. I clicked on X and now the pop-up has stopped appearing.

So, my conclusion is you must cancel the pop-up in order to stop it reappearing. If, instead, you click on the text links, the pop-up will keep appearing and the number of times it reappears seems random.
