How To Make System Update Status To Paid Automatically?

Hello,
I am using Stripe as the payment gateway and as customers sucessfully pay for items the status still shows as unpaid even though the payment was sucessful with no issues. Is there a way at all to make sure they payment status is updated and the paid email is sent out to customers so they know their purchase went through okay? Thanks
