I'm on my 2nd year w/ a Pro sub and not having much luck. I see now your front page notice highlighted in RED. Are you saying SPPB cannot be used with an existing site and template? Please explain and provide as much detail as you can.

Background: I migrated to J3 from 1.5 and have not yet chosen a template. The site is text heavy. If I can use SPPB with an existing site, please outline basic steps - suggested template, e.g.

I can read the tech settings from your Basic Info/Requirements page.

Thank you.

Helix Ultimate is a good choice. But you want some modified templates, then check our templates category. Hopefully, you will find a suitable template for you. Please check our templates here

Hello DonS

Unfortunately, migrating from old site that has not built with SP Page Builder is impossible.

You have to develop from the scratch.

This will not be very hectic if you could properly use the features of SP Page Builder. Building a site with SP Page Builder is an easy thing. Please check this tutorial playlist on SP Page Builder to get better understanding of our extension.

Best regards

Thank you, Ofi. Can you tell me if Helix or any of your templates would be suitable for the task on the site I linked to?

HI, If I may...

as I already checked your current website. Probably the best choice would be using raw Helix Ultimate template. And YES, SPPB you can use to improve / rebuild home page and few other subpages.

BTW You cannot use QuickStart becuase it contains Joomla and demo content itself.

Thank you, Paul and Ofi.

What I understand is this:

Use Helix Ultimate for basic layout of articles and categories. Use SPPB to design Home page and maybe re-design some easy-to-recreate pages within the Helix framework.

  1. Where do templates fit into the above? Do they integrate with Helix or replace it on certain pages?

  2. Will any of this rebuilding disrupt the existing URL structure?

Many thanks for your advice.

Helix Ultimate is template for whole website, as you know Joomla needs at least one template set as default. It's structure, framework. Besides it's eaiser to work with a single template only.

ad 2) No, template do not touch / change any links or structure of menu. It's still managed by Joomla Core Menu Manager.

ad 1) Template override some Joomla components views, like Article, Blog etc.
