Uncaught TypeError: Joomla.removeMessages is Not A Function

My organization is using the newest Floox (2.0.2) template in Joomla 4, and there seems to be a JavaScript error impacting other components. I have notes from a developer who pointed out that our site is showing

Uncaught TypeError: Joomla.removeMessages is not a function

Coming from: /templates/shaper_floox/html/layouts/joomla/system/message.php

and the issue goes away when we change templates.
